"Sanamluang Cafe Hollywood, nestled in the heart of Thaitown, is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and culinary offerings. With a reputation bolstered by numerous accolades from food enthusiasts, my visit was highly anticipated. However, while expectations were soaring, the experience fell short in delivering the Thai culinary excellence it's celebrated for. The initial disappointment surfaced through a commonality among the dishes an overwhelming saltiness that overshadowed the authentic flavors. The Pad See Ew, notably drenched in an abundance of oyster sauce, lacked the desired chewiness in its noodles, deviating from the expected texture. Similarly, the Yellow Curry, known for its rich coconut milk base, leaned excessively on the salty side, unfortunately detracting from its otherwise enticing flavors. Despite these setbacks, a glimmer of hope emerged with the Shrimp Cake—a true standout. Masterfully crafted with a crispy exterior that encased a tender and succulent interior, this dish showcased the kitchen's prowess and highlighted the potential for culinary brilliance. However, the deviation from traditional Thai jasmine rice to regular rice may have contributed to a divergence from the expected aromatic experience that complements Thai cuisine. In reflection, while the Sanamluang Cafe Hollywood might not have met personal preferences, particularly with a penchant for milder seasoning and authentic textures akin to the Thai culinary experiences found in the SGV area, the Shrimp Cake shines as a beacon of the restaurant's potential. Perhaps, for those with a taste for bolder flavors and a penchant for salty sweet undertones, this establishment might resonate more positively."
