"Went for breakfast based on the reviews. Most of the menu items are high carb and calorie count dishes. I love good pancakes, waffles and French toast but I can?t eat those while trying to maintain a type2 diabetes regimen so I had to pass and admire other folks plates. I still splurged a little and had the corned beef hash and eggs with potatoes and wheat toast. My meal was really good but I couldn?t finish it without stuffing myself and that?s a testament to the ample portions they serve. Now here?s the disappointment. I don?t have a gallbladder due to a surgery years ago and it?s changed the way I eat now. If food is greasy or oily, it will go through my system 15-20 minutes after a meal. Therein lies the problem, some restaurants use a flavored cooking oil substitute or perhaps go heavy on the oil or butter grilling their food. I should have known better than to try the conventional cooked potatoes and paid for it 20 minutes later when I left. While the food was tasty, it was grilled a bit oily. I?ve eaten at other restaurants that make awesome red potatoes with rosemary, onions and such and never had to make the bathroom pilgrimage. I?d still give their food 4 stars but the heavy portions, high carb and cooking oils brought it a 3. Service though was excellent, my server was on point and charming. I still may try them again just to carb out and experience the pancakes and waffles plates. You only live once as they say."

"This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. When I arrived, the owner was on his phone and ignored me for five minutes. Once I finally took a bite of my food, I found a small chicken wing bone in it. I tried calling to report the issue, but the person on the other end couldn't understand me. So, I went in person to show the owner a picture of the bone, and he dismissed it, claiming it was impossible and had never happened before. While he did give me a refund, he was very rude and unapologetic, even calling me a "lousy" customer."

"2B, or not 2B? There is no question!! Exit 2B, for the uninitiated. Duchess is like a blast from the past - a childhood memory. It's the best fast food around, especially the Big D burger with cheese. It's killer! The options are good enough for fast food, and the shakes are delicious. I always go for the vanilla shake. The menu is extensive for a fast food joint, but it's worth exploring because you will be pleasantly surprised. Although the closest location is about three hours away these days, I never pass up the opportunity to indulge in Duchess's offerings."

"2nd visit in 18 months. They don't have food under heaters, so you do have to wait while they prepare your order. Salads vegie burgers are on the menu. Customers can draw their own beverages free refills (if you're eating in). One entrance which is wheelchair accessible. Tables are spaced so a wheelchair can manuver to any vacant table. Kids will drive parents to the large glass case, filled with brightly colored toys inside. Pay to avtivate the claw to grab one. Good luck."

"When I was a little girl, we lived in Stratford CT. My mother always brought us to the Duchess. We moved, but it always remained in my head, how good the food was. I went back with my oldest son in August 22 and just recently with a friend and this place has only BETTER!!! A little expensive, but trust me, it's Worth It. N'Joy"

"On September 30th 2020 at 7pm I waited for 15 minutes at the intercom for them to take my order. Then waited another 15 minutes for my food. Watched employees hanging out on there phone not doing anything! It wasn't even busy. Then when they come outside finally after 30 minutes the girl says here's your food with an attitude. No sorry for the wait or anything. Fries are cold and food looks awful. I will never go to Monroe Duchess ever again"

"I always try to find great food wherever I go, but today I was very disappointed with my visit to the Duchess restaurant. I have been to many of their locations over the years and never had an issue, but today was a letdown. The service was quick and efficient, but the food was not up to par. The burgers were good, but the onion rings were overcooked and clumped together. The chicken nuggets were also over-fried, turning them brown instead of golden, and they tasted like oil. I asked for a replacement order, but it was just as greasy. The meal was not cheap at $38 for two people, and only being able to eat half of it was disappointing. I hope this was just an off day for the restaurant."
