"The reviews had me quite optimistic about eating here but the experience turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. We started with half a dozen oysters which were fine. I decided to have a couple of appetizers in order to have a variety. The first was a mixture of octopus, eggplant and chick peas. The octopus was very chewy, which octopus is; however, I had expected that it might have been braised or prepared in some way to provide a softer result. Or perhaps served cut into smaller pieces. But it came in large chunks which I found unappealing. Furthermore, the sauce was quite sharp and acidic which simply isn't my taste. I would not recommend this dish. My second appetizer was beef tongue, which I like, with a crepe filled with cheese. The crepe was very nice. The tongue, which they cure themselves - they have their own butcher - I found to be over salted. And I generally like things salty. But this was too salty even for me. One friend had roast lamb which was very nice. The other had skate wing which I found to have a slightly fishy taste. For dessert we tried their butter cake with a liqueur flavoured custard sauce. The cake was very good but I would have preferred the sauce without the liqueur. We also had the Banoffee pie. It was a very nice banana cream pie with a few chunks of toffee. The restaurant was very quiet when we were there. The waitstaff were extremely pleasant and helpful. After mentioning my disappointment with the octopus, it was deducted from the bill. Overall, the kitchen appears to be quite competent. However, I think dishes like the appetizers I had should be reconsidered. If the skate was not as fresh as it could have been, that is easily corrected. I guess I might go back. I'd be a little more careful as to what I ordered."
