"I think when you enter a small town anywhere in the U.S. many times you expect a small town mentality, vision or service. In the world of restaurants, you expect something repetitive and maybe consistent yet entirely forgettable. Sawyer, Michigan is really unlike any small town I have ever encountered. My girls and I chose to eat at the Clean Plate Club per the reviews on Yelp. We came in for breakfast and the place 's ambience was what we needed this morning. Perfect modern music playing (The Smiths, New Order and just a nice overall feel to it. We were greeted by their wonderful host and server (Hanna with an H on the end! . She asked what led us to Sawyer and then took our order. Although I had seen images of the BnG (Biscuits and Gravy on Yelp, they didn 't mirror what I typically expect but love trying what a restaurant considers amazing. When Hannah had served me this dish I thought the gravy looked watered down. I thought toast was being used instead of biscuits... but the sheer aroma led me to get beyond myself. And WHAT A TREAT! To me, this is the old school way of making biscuits and gravy and what I once thought was toast was actually a flatter made biscuit that was merely in the shape of a biscuit. Regardless the biscuit was tender and full of flavor. The gravy itself was unlike any gravy I really felt I had ever tried because it was not the typical thick gravy. Their gravy reminded me of my Gram 's gravy and every bite led to multiple smiles and the reassurance I would be back soon if not for lunch in a few hours to taste this great menu item again! This small town restaurant is anything but... my daughters ordered their items and were also pleasantly blown away! I can 't say enough about this place BUT... I will say this.... Clean Plate Club was so great, so original and unique to us that we actually came back the following morning to try more! (Photos to follow . My only regret about this place is not living closer to this restaurant. We come annually to go to St. Joseph New Buffalo beach(es and will make this food enterprise our new tradition for breakfast. (Maybe every day! Thanks Clean Plate Club and HANNAH! You both rocked our worlds!"
