"Fortunately, the waitress who attended to me was much friendlier. I ordered two small plates: spring rolls and a potato dish, along with a cup of Rare Earl Grey tea. The tea was lackluster—acceptable, but it didn’t have a distinct bergamot flavor, and I regretted spending $6 on what tasted like vaguely flavored hot water.
The potatoes, however, were absolutely delightful—tender and dressed with butter and herbs, though they could have used more salt. It’s important to season food while cooking; adding salt afterwards doesn't have the same effect.
On the other hand, the spring rolls were a disappointment. They were presented in a trendy New York style, with one roll sliced into six disks and stood upright like sushi. I appreciated the presentation, but each piece contained nothing but shredded cabbage and a small cube of tofu wrapped in rice paper. It was essentially just a bite of cabbage with no dressing, vinegar, cilantro, salt, pepper—essentially no flavor at all. The complete absence of taste was almost amusing, but at $15, it wasn’t funny enough to make it worthwhile. So, I sent them back.
I might consider giving the place another shot, but honestly, I’m not sure I will. One out of three dishes that impressed me is not a great score."
