"Dining after fashion show with Rochelle Travelle Kitchen Bar, 330 N Wabash Ave, 2nd Floor Chicago, IL, 60611 We arrived to valet parking. Up to the 2nd floor space again that have been transformed from the IBM cafeteria to elegant space for dining with a wine selections for well developed palate. We were warmly greeted with a smile, and the evening started the journey to where all would be well please with smile, and service. We both started with tea and honey... Ordered the carrot soup with ginger, thyme, ramp butter, crème fraîche, focaccia croutons. This was creme fraîche accompanied with toasted pumpkin seeds. The soup was finger lickin’ good. The soup was lightly warmed. We would have Preferred a little warmer soup. Yes, we let them know the soup was not hot to our liking or just tepid! 2nd courses were just salads.... Rochelle has they Kale Caesar salad with roast sweet potatoes, apple pickles shallots. Shaved Parmesan cheese on top. Rochelle prefers the salad dressing to be on the side to control the amount in the salad. The addressing was cashew vinaigrette. Leonard’s was a Blue Cheese wedge salad with fried egg, tomato, avocado, green goddess addressing, had to request some additional blue cheese and green goddess addressing Yesssssssss that was just very good. Endri V took our order. Jacob provide service on top. He got new tea because it too was tepid. This time more honey and slices of lemon. We had lengthy conversation with Thibaut Idenn Beverage Director. He was very gracious. We spoken with both Nancy Matt, Nancy was very attentive although she was not actually serving us that evening. We ask for front of house assistance manager Marc Silenceieux, he was vacationing. The valet open and closed both car doors, and we departed. "I love going to the Banff Springs for High Tea, and this time they were able to accommodate our request for a window seat and my gluten-sensitivity. All of the food was excellent. I wasn't super crazy about the devilled ham sandwich but I highly enjoyed everything else, and I always love the scone, cream and preserves. While I absolutely love Darjeeling tea, I find their particular selection a bit weak. I've had Darjeeling tea all over Europe and this one just tastes weak, even if you continuously steep it. I've had it twice and both times it was just, meh. I do think they should consider allowing take out boxes for anything you don't consume. They kinda force you into a food coma, as you've paid $90 for this tower of food but you're forced to eat it all there. I also think that a warm up on the tea should be available. You only get one pot of tea and once it's cold, that's pretty much it; either drink it cold or leave it there. Our waitress was nice, though I wish she had been a bit more attentive. The wait for our tower seemed a bit lengthy, which I don't blame her for. She just didn't check on us that much. I'd also recommend a good sweep down of the chairs before seating the next guest. We sat in the green chairs next to the window and my chair had hair on it and a random piece of popcorn. There was also a dead bee in the window. I swept the popcorn off but then I had to ask a server walking by to pick the popcorn up off the floor. A number of servers just walked by the popcorn on the floor, as if it wasn't noticeable. They don't serve popcorn at high tea, just saying. All that said, I would definitely go back when another special occasion calls for it."

"Inside, we were greeted by a pleasant hotel reception area, followed by a stylish bar. Our table offered a clear view of the open kitchen, where a variety of clothesline bacon appetizers were being prepared. The ambiance was modern rather than the traditional charm I remembered from the Manor, but it was still inviting. Overall, the food was quite good, and our server was exceptional. The cocktails were fantastic as well. The clothesline bacon was flavorful, though it had a few burnt spots—something we’re not particularly fond of, but the taste was still impressive. My son declared it the best bacon he had ever tasted. Unfortunately, the margherita pizza was a letdown; it came out as just a plain cheese pizza. Our waitress explained that they typically don’t add basil for kids, but we requested extra basil. After trying it, we decided to keep it to avoid wasting food. The flavor was fine, but it seemed to have been made with shredded cheese rather than fresh mozzarella, lacking the delightful pools of cheese surrounded by sauce that I expect from a margherita pizza. Additionally, we were accustomed to fresh basil leaves, rather than the pesto sauce they used. Things improved from there, as my cocktail was outstanding. I chose the Quattro Quattro, made with Old Forester 100 proof bourbon and Cynar Italian bitters, which provided a fresh and delicious twist on a Manhattan. The 20 oz dry-aged ribeye, while possibly slightly smaller than advertised (perhaps around 15 oz?), was delicious. The sides we ordered—potatoes and asparagus/mushrooms—were excellent, although the Brussels sprouts were a bit overcooked but still packed with flavor. The steak was cooked closer to medium than the intended medium rare, but it remained tender. It came with a memorable tangy sweet sauce known as B1, a patent-pending steak sauce by David Burke. As mentioned earlier, our server was fantastic—very attentive and even removed the pizza from our bill, which I assured her was unnecessary, but she insisted it was the right thing to do since we weren’t happy with it. Overall, we enjoyed a lovely meal for the three of us, with plenty of leftovers, all for under $200."
