"I made a special trip to this restaurant after hearing all the hype surrounding it. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything special about it. The hot dogs were just standard Sabbrett varieties served in regular supermarket buns—hardly legendary. The onion sauce was decent, but no better than what you can get from the Sabbrett brand. The sauerkraut was so sparingly applied that you could count the strands (and coming from New York, I know what I'm talking about when it comes to cheap cabbage). It certainly doesn’t warrant a dedicated trip; you could simply stop at any roadside "Dirty Water Dog" stand and have the same experience. I've heard the chili is good, but I won't be making the journey from Melville again to find out. Furthermore, I feel that $3.00 for a thin Sabbrett hot dog is a bit steep—maybe prices have just gone up, but to me, they're only worth about $2 each, especially considering the meager portions of sauerkraut and toppings. Overall, I was quite disappointed."
