"The formerly exquisite and hearty lamb chili soup has been replaced by a thin, bland, and bitter beef concoction. Be sure to wear your glasses if you don’t want to miss the scarce bits of beef! There’s no lamb at all, yet the name remains unchanged. The taste is horrendous! The delightful little pieces of bread have been substituted with flat, tasteless, unleavened discs. My husband ordered a beef pita wrap, which was nearly empty and slathered with unappetizing A1 sauce—how they consider this Mediterranean food is beyond me! Even the hummus has suffered; it’s overpowered by tahini, with no lemon or garlic to be found. I’m baffled by how they managed to ruin the rice as well. Additionally, the health rating has dropped to 88. Save yourself the disappointment and eat at Tazikis instead. While Tazikis may be a chain and akin to the McDonald’s of Mediterranean cuisine, their food is far superior to what Al Shish is serving now. Please note that the photos below are from the OLD menu and do not accurately represent the current offerings. **Original Review:** If you don’t eat here, you’re missing out on one of the best meals you’re ever likely to have! We had the family chicken meal for four, and it was incredible! The portions were incredibly generous, and the flavors were simply divine. Even the rice had a delicate aroma with hints of orange peel, sultanas, and almonds. The tawook chicken and boneless whole chicken were amazing—moist and flavorful—but my favorite part was the lamb kofta! If you try them, be sure to add a touch of toum (garlic dip) for an extraordinary taste experience! The fresh-baked bread is heavenly—light, fluffy, and delicious, which definitely led me to eat way too much!"
