"The vibe at Tarantula Hill is awesome. Family friendly, girls night out friendly, date night friendly, it does it all.And the beer selection surpasses a lot of other breweries in the area so that's definitely a plus. It's a big open space inside and out so it can get loud with the street and other patrons talking. But there are a lot of tables so it's easy to find a seat even when it's busy. And the noise adds to the fun vibe.My only reason for rating it 4 instead of 5 stars is the price and the lack of allergy friendly food. They used to have so many more plant-based options and the selection keeps dwindling. There is vegan cheese now for pizzas which is great. But a plant-based burger is no longer on the menu unless you order the portobello mushroom burger (without cheese). There are no plant-based tacos. The appetizer options are better (brussel sprouts, pretzel, fries, tater tots, hummus). And this time I ordered a Mediterranean salad without feta. While it was a large portion, it was almost entirely made up of kale. With maybe a few sliced olives, a tablespoon of quinoa, and a few onion slices. For almost $18. It seemed very overpriced. For a restaurant in the Thousand Oaks and Westlake area, I can kind of understand the price. But I expected something more impressive for it.I'll still go back because I love the vibe and the beer. I'll order the pizza and see how it is. Hopefully the food selection for those of us who are dairy- and meat-free increases."
