"When I arrived at Jackson’s, I found out there had been a staff change from the morning buffet, and on this special day, I encountered a delay in getting seated due to window cleaning at my assigned table with a view of the river. Once I was seated, it took 15 minutes for a server to approach my table, despite the dining room being mostly empty except for one other table.
As for the food, I would rate it as okay: the Merlot was acceptable, the salad with blue cheese was fine, but the clams left much to be desired. I also had scallops and shrimp, though I was conscious of my health choices. If I'm going to indulge, I want it to be worthwhile, and unfortunately, it felt like the kitchen staff was exhausted, resulting in a lackluster meal.
That said, I still believe Jackson's is a good restaurant that you should experience. I have visited countless times, and I would rate my previous experiences a solid four stars. However, my dessert took an hour to arrive, which was frustrating as I tried to get back to Mom. Overall, it was just a rough day.
As a side note, restaurants should strive to avoid off days, regardless of whether the staff is short-term or long-term. We're not personally invested, but it's important for them to deliver quality service. Despite my experience, I would still recommend Jackson’s; this is probably the most forgiving review I’ve ever written. I’m confident that my next visit will be better. Jackson's still deserves a thumbs up."
