"This restaurant was sadly a disappointment. While being located in California and part of the distinguished repertoire of Thomas Keller, the food was not to the level expected from such a celebrated chef..The menu has a reasonable selection of typical Mexican dishes.We had the guacamole appetizer and taco trio for our early dinner.. the guacamole lacked flavor as it was essentially mashed avocado with some salt pepper, no onion,chiles, cilantro or tomato. I ordered the 3 street taco platter which comes with No rice or beans, by the way, so I also ordered a side of white rice. All the tacos come with sliced onion and the tortillas are made in house. Normally it is such a treat to get freshly made hot corn tortillas, however both my husbands and my tortillas were presented ice cold and the carne asada was flavorless and warm at best. I mentioned this to the waitress and asked for additional warm tortillas. The white rice was undercooked in part (lots of the grains were actually still crunchy) and had no salt..The manager came over and brought new rice but while this was better cooked it was still al dente and tastless. I commend the staff as they were very interested in making things right. But for this place to come from such a prestigious pedigree, it ranks as my least favorite mexican restaurant, perhaps I have been jaded living in LA my entire life, but tacos and rice are not complicated dishes to execute."
