"Took my wife there for her birthday dinner. We sat inside the main dining room where we normally sit. It 's a beautiful old house and the dining room is extremely comfortable with the tables set apart for plenty of room. There is no awkwardness of bumping your chair into the person seated at the table behind you like there is in other establishments. That does not necessarily hold true for the porch seating though. The outdoor seating in the garden area looked really nice that night, with kids dressed up and doing their best to behave and sit still for photos. Hindsight being 2020, I would have booked a table out there. Overall, the food was great and the service was really good considering how busy it was. The staff, when it gets busy, tag teams the tables to share in the duties to keep the guests happy. Because it was busy, the meal lasted two hours, which is a little on the long side for me. But, for most people, engaged in good conversation, that would be just about right I suppose. I like this place. Reminds me a little of moderately upscale restaurants in the New England and Cape Cod area. When it 's busy like it was that night, it feels a little like people are all there to celebrate something. Maybe they are there for a groom 's dinner in preparation for an upcoming wedding. Maybe it 's part of their wine country vacation plans. For some, it 's probably their version of Billy Joel 's Scenes from an Italian Restaurant . For my wife and I, this is our spot. So happy it survived the COVID insanity. The pasta is excellent, and we rarely order a main course. The appetizers are actually a full course in of themselves and are served on large plates. So, if you order a few appetizers to share, plus soup and a salad, you may run out of room at the table and will look a little like it 's your first time and didn 't get the memo. If you plan on a meal like that with some appetizers, make sure to ask your server to time the courses accordingly. If it 's busy, could be tricky."
