"They brought out garlic oil accompanied by some of the worst bread I've ever had—likely a day old—meant for dipping. I've typically seen olive oil with balsamic vinegar for dipping rather than garlic oil, but perhaps that's just a regional preference. Many items on the menu didn’t seem authentically Italian, but I suppose in the U.S., restaurants cater to what customers want, even if it's not quite right.
I ordered a cheesesteak with onion rings—both are not Italian, but nothing else really appealed to me. When I inquired if the bread was similar to what we had with the garlic oil, the server said, "It's hard to describe." All I wanted was a simple comparison: was it hard like the previous bread or softer? It turned out to be somewhat soft. The onion rings were soggy, and the cheesesteak was just mediocre.
The bruschetta was essentially a pizza rather than the traditional bread topped with tomatoes, which might also be a regional twist. It was very garlicky, which could be a plus if you enjoy that flavor. The Greek salad, also not Italian, was fine. Overall, the service was adequate. This is why I ultimately rated the restaurant only one star."
