"Next, we received our appetizer: a burrata cheese salad, which was delicious! Alongside, we were served a basket of homemade focaccia bread with a small carafe of seasoned oil for dipping. When our entrees arrived, I had the Veal Piccata, and my husband had the special—spaghetti bolognese with sausage. I noticed the pizza oven and mentioned to my husband that he should take a look. He did, and soon after, the owner, Rob, came over to chat with him about pizzas and home ovens. While we were enjoying our dinner, a cheese pizza appeared at our table courtesy of Rob. We let it cool for a bit, as it was still hot from the wood-fired oven, and decided to save half of our dinner to make room for it. I'm so glad we did; it was incredible. Once we finished our meals, it was time for dessert. They generously offered complimentary zeppoles, which we gladly accepted, and I ordered an espresso as well. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, our experience was nothing short of fantastic. Rob was very welcoming and genuinely interested in our feedback. We had a great time and enjoyed delicious food. We'll definitely return whenever we are in town. This place is truly THE ITALIAN RESTAURANT OF SARASOTA!"

"Let me start with the big one! the lasagna! yummo! I tried 4 different cocktails. They're not so great now. I ordered half caesar salat $4) and a friend ordered the whole caesar salat $8) and they were almost the same size. the whole salate should have been much bigger for $8. the cannoli was not my favorite. I didn't like the aroma in the cheese. our server. I think she was new, very embarrassing. I was a waitress and wanted to give her a few tips, but resist. do not ask us every 5 minutes if we need something and stand there when we say no. it was very unpleasant. if our waterglasses are under half full tone, fill them out, do not ask them. our conversation was constantly interrupted, very frustrating. they gave us very good suggestions to drink and feed. then stood there and stared at us after we said we wanted to wait for our drinks. She was very sweet, but she just needs more exercise. the lasagna and cocktails won the 3 star rating."

"The wait was long, and the food did not meet expectations. It seems there may be some issues in the kitchen. I ordered the special, which was supposed to feature Black Trumpet mushrooms and Chorizo, but what I received was essentially an unseasoned pork and pasta dish without either of those ingredients. My wife's meal was disappointing as well. However, our waiter was attentive and worked hard to provide good service. Despite his efforts, the shortcomings in the food and drinks mean that we won't be coming back."

"Was in town for a football game — first in a long time — and decided to try to make the most out of a dreaded noon kickoff by ending the day with a good meal. So I dialed up open table and decided to see if Mim Dad’s was still even around! I was very happy to see it was, and had availability … so I clicked on the reservation button and then clicked navigation … that’s when it got interesting. My Tallahassee experience was outdated, but I quickly realized I wasn’t headed to where I remembered Mom Dad’s to be (in fact, I was pretty sure I was headed in exactly the wrong direction … but I pressed on. Now, my father was in Tally when M D opened in the early 60s and went with his parents … he took my mom there on occasion when they were students in the late 60s … my family likely didn’t eat there in the 70s … my first trip to my parents’ alma mater in the 80s included a stop … went to M Ds when my parents or my gf’s parents were visiting when I was a student in the 90s … my last visit was likely early 2000s as an alum … Okay, back to the current trip … we arrived just before the restaurant opened, and I quickly assessed that the new M D was more upscale … I sulked in and asked the staff if my family of 4 in our garnet and garish game gear would be completely inappropriate, and they assured me we were not likely to be alone in our dress. In short (eh, I guess I’m well past short! we had a fantastic meal .. I had veal parm and the wife had a lasagne … I forget what the kids got, but they were quiet while the wife and I had a proper meal and a couple drinks, so it was a huge win! The red sauce was as great as I remembered: hearty, tasteful and just a touch of a freshness (herbs? that I can’t put my finger on, but can’t get enough of. They say smells and tastes trigger the most vivid memories … and despite the little place on Parkway being a distant memory, this meal made my delayed return visit to Tally complete.
