"My wife and I were here a few weeks ago as guests of my mother. My mother ordered a pasta dish, I had a Philly steak sandwich, and my wife had the deconstructed California roll salad. We were left disappointed. Firstly, the dining room décor was dull. Everything in there is brown. Secondly, the food took entirely too long to arrive. When we asked our what the hold-up was, he explained that they were training some new cooks and that they weren't up to speed yet. Which would have made sense had the dining room not been roughly three quarters empty. Thirdly, and most disappointingly, my wife ordered her salad without the bell peppers. She simply doesn't like them. The salad had the peppers. Fortunately she doesn't have a food allergy, so she decided to eat around them. Then she saw the fly. A dead fly under the avocados. She sent it back immediately, and, stomach sufficiently turned, decided not to eat anything else that evening. Here's the punchline. Our server attempted to upsell us some desserts after he took the offending salad away. Craft, you failed. I don't care how green your cooks are, allowing flies on your food is unacceptable. You're supposed to have a pest control plan in place, are you following it? Because flies in the kitchen would suggest otherwise. Brookings lost a perfectly good Godfather's Pizza so you could be in that location. Do better. Or don't, we won't be back either way."

"When we arrived, we informed the hostess it was a party of two. She asked us to wait five minutes while she checked on something and then left her stand. When she returned, she directed us to a table, only to find it still occupied with dirty dishes. She asked us to hold on for a moment while she grabbed a rag to clean it. We understood that things happen, so we waited patiently for her to sort it out. However, she seated us in a rather awkward location, sandwiched between the outdoor dining area and the indoor section—what I would describe as the "worst spot" in the restaurant. After reviewing the menu, we finally decided what we wanted to order and then the waiting began. We waited and waited some more, and about 15 minutes later, I had enough. I approached the host stand to see who our server was. On my way, I noticed two tables that had been empty before, now filled with other parties who were already enjoying their drinks and appetizers. Frustrated, I called out, "Excuse me, we need some help here!" The server seemed surprised, as if he hadn't even realized we were there. He took our orders, but that was about all the engagement we received from him. As for the food, coming from a Hawaiian background and having grown up with Hawaiian cuisine, I found it to be pretty mediocre—nothing special at all. I should have trusted my instincts and chosen the Thai restaurant just down the street instead. Chef Chai, if you happen to read this, I urge you to check this place out. It seems like the management here is quite disorganized. I was really let down by the experience, and I hope my review doesn’t get taken down like my partner's did! When friends ask for restaurant recommendations, I certainly won't suggest this place based on my experience. Changes need to be made!"

"I'm giving this place two stars primarily because it has been a reliable late-night option, closing at 2 AM when other places are shutting down. I've been here a few times before, and the food has always been decent. The lively music sets the mood for dancing, making it a great spot if you enjoy loud beats. However, my recent experience left much to be desired. I brought some friends visiting from Germany, and after a long day of filming, we decided to check it out around 12:40 AM. Unfortunately, our night took a turn for the worse. We waited until 1:00 AM to get our initial drinks, and even then, service was slow. By 1:20 AM, we were ready to order a second round, which didn't arrive until 1:30 AM.To our surprise, just minutes after receiving our drinks, a staff member announced last call, and security began ushering people out yelling “we are closed”. We were told to leave at 1:29 AM, even though the establishment closes at 2 AM. The security personnel hovered over our table, urging us to leave, while others were also exiting. I found this treatment quite rude.I explained that we had just received our 2nd drinks, and it was only 1:30 AM, meaning we still had time according to their closing hours. Despite being paying customers who had ordered drinks, we were told to finish drinks quickly as we headed toward the exit. My friends from Germany were disappointed with this service, and I felt a bit embarrassed because I had recommended this place highly.I've visited various bars and lounges before, and what sets them apart is that they typically don't ask patrons to leave before their closing time. In my experience, when a place says they're closing at 2 AM, it usually means they start the process of cleaning up and closing down at that time, rather than prematurely asking customers to depart. I personally consider this practice unprofessional, lazy, rude."
