"I visited this restaurant for a lunch special and was surprised to be charged dinner prices. Even after I pointed out the discrepancy, they refused to adjust the price. This happened before dinner time, making it even more frustrating. Overall, the service was lacking and the atmosphere was just okay. The recommended dishes are the Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas."

"I met some friends for dinner before going to see the high school musical at the John Legend Theater. I had planned on ordering the seafood enchiladas, but ended up choosing the special combo instead. It was a wonderful selection of food at an affordable price. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs. I will definitely be returning in the future, perhaps to order the seafood enchiladas or to try another delectable dish."

"Service was friendly and attentive and the place was nice and clean, and my Jarritos was delicious, but other than that I have nothing to say about my food. I got the Cinco de Mayo and was disappointed to see the chicken and steak that came out was like triple-ply TP thin. And it was all stacked in a way that I didn’t quite know what to do with it for a few minutes, aside from stare at my already paper-thin and cooked steak at the bottom of the stack, sizzling away some more in the hot stone bowl it came in. I forgot to snag a photo but someone already a posted the dish in the photo section, so check it out there. Other than the refried beans and rice which were decent, I can’t speak for the rest of the food, my wife and kids didn’t seem to mind."

"2024 review: The top 3 recommendations: 1) Shrimp tacos I love them. Haven't had such good tacos anywhere. 2) Tomatillo sauce 3) Quesadilla fajita Their tomatillo sauce is (too spicy and hot, not for everyone. It's probably 4 5 times spicy than hot salsa). It goes with everything momos/dumplings, spring rolls, etc. 2021 review: I ordered through Grubhub and absolutely loved it. The best items were Pollo Poblano and Chicken Quesadilla Fajita. The problem I usually face with Mexican food is uncooked tortillas. Not at this place!!! The tortillas were perfectly cooked and soft and the fillings were perfect (cheese, chicken, peppers, etc). Both their items had taste and flavor!! I will definitely try their other items."

"My best friend and I went to get our nails done then for lunch. We weren't sure if El Campesino was gonna be good this time! We got seated right away. The waitress came within a minute or two and got our drinks! We both got a taco salad and it was awful! It had 2 pieces of lettuce and canned chicken. The taco salad was gross with no flavor. We were both very disappointed. The salad had no salsa. We asked for a side of ranch and we got a packet of ranch. We ended up getting our money back but we barely got to eat. We won't be back they have gone down hill! I do not recommend it unless you like food with zero flavor. I hope they turn things around. We love Mexican food but not this one. My husband is from El Paso Texas and his food is 1000 times better. We also love to go to Mexico and have real Mexican!! I forgot to take a picture of the taco salad but trust me I eat Mexican food a lot and this was plain gross! "The service was impressively quick; we were seated right away, and our drinks arrived shortly after. The food came out even faster than expected, which left me wondering how they managed it. Unfortunately, after that, the service dropped off. Our server never returned to check on us, and we ended up waiting a long time just to get our bill. I ordered the lunch fajitas, and they were disappointing. There was barely any chicken, and the overall flavor was lacking. The beans were watery and looked very unappetizing. I had heard great things about this restaurant and that it was better than other Mexican places in the area, but I left feeling let down. I won’t be coming back."

"We visited El Campesino on August 5, 2024. Overall, I’d have to say Taco Bell is better, and I’m not a fan of Taco Bell. I ordered the Chicken Mole Enchiladas ($17.75), while my wife got the Fish Tacos ($17.75). The highlight of the meal was the chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the mole was bland, and the chicken was either under-seasoned or lacked seasoning altogether. The Fish Tacos contained very small pieces of fried fish that were also lacking in flavor. It was clear that the meals weren’t prepared fresh, as they arrived within five minutes of placing our order. The restaurant wasn’t busy at the time, but this felt more like fast food trying to pass itself off as a higher-quality dining experience, especially given the prices. Overall, the quality was poor and definitely overpriced!"

"The Texmex food at this restaurant is delicious and satisfying. Each dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and met our expectations. However, the service was a bit lacking during our visit. While the outside tables were all full, the rest of the restaurant was not even half full on a Saturday night. Our waitress seemed busy and it took fifteen minutes for our drinks to arrive. The manager stopped by our table to check in, and we placed our guacamole and chips order with him, also asking if we could place our meal order. Surprisingly, the appetizer and entrees arrived together, and our meals already had guacamole included. When we asked the hostess if they were short-staffed, she informed us that they were actually busier than ever before."

"We were seated in an area that had almost no lighting despite the fact that we made a reservation and they knew we were there for dinner. We were also seated in an area near two parties which were too loud for our taste given the physical limitations of the area in which we were seated. Our server never smiled and did not seem like she wanted to be there. She spoke very little and we had to repeat any requests we made. The food was BLAND pretty much across the board with the exception of a salad dressing (Mango) that my wife had. My steak was overcooked and chewy. It also contained lots of sinue making it difficult to eat. I had been to this restaurant 10 years ago and the food was good but now they seem to be making up for lost time."

"As someone from Southern California, I truly appreciate Mexican cuisine as an art form. This was my first visit to the restaurant, and I always judge a Mexican establishment by their Carnitas. Our server, Milan, was exceptional; when I mentioned my preference for crispy Carnitas, he promptly offered to check with the kitchen. Chef Luis personally came to talk to me and promised to prepare something special. I must say, it was some of the best Carnitas I've ever had! I regret not snapping a photo because I was so eager to dig in. My friend ordered a chicken bowl, which was also amazing. I can’t commend the staff enough; both Luis and Milan went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. I will definitely be making this restaurant a regular spot!"

I'm vegetarian, and while they offered a number of combinations, there was nothing that stood out. Food came hot and quickly, taste was on the bland side. I cannot speak to the specialties on the menu, though the grilled entree a fellow had at the next table smelled good. I had come here two years ago while passing through, and I gave them a second chance. On the whole, a good restaurant but I hoped for a bit more."

"I wish I could give this place a 0 star rating. My family used to always go to this place and even referred friends and family to this restaurant as well. Like loyal customers, we called into their restaurant for a take-out order. First of all, the woman who answered kept hanging up on me and tried to blame me for the connection problems. Then, I spent the next 25 minutes giving her a simple family order. LITERALLY 5 combo plates of the same thing. And that took 25 minutes! Then, when I asked for the total cost and asked for the food to be all vegetarian; Sergio, the apparent supervisor, took the phone and informed me that they no longer feel comfortable with my order because he, nor the restaurant wanted to be blamed if meat came into any of the plates. I asked the order to be vegetarian and they couldn’t assure it’ll be vegetarian, that’s HORRIBLE! If you want bad customer service, then La Charreada is the place to go! They waste your time and their food is subpar. El Cazador is better anyway, bye bye La Charreada. You’re cut!"
