"Yamato appears to be a cozy little neighborhood spot that satisfies your sushi cravings. Living in an area with exceptional Japanese restaurants has set my expectations high, so I’m aware that I might be a bit spoiled. That said, I recognize that you often get what you pay for, and places like Yamato provide a solid option if you're on a budget. The experience is generally average in almost every aspect. The exterior is plain and somewhat dull, yet it maintains a tasteful simplicity. The dining area has the charm of a 1960s insurance office but with even less decor. The colorful menu doesn’t include prices or descriptions, so you might need to ask the staff or already be familiar with the offerings. The all-you-can-eat (AYCE) option seems to be the most popular, but the rules (as noted in other reviews) aren’t very clear for newcomers. We visited on a moderately busy night, and while the service was adequate when staff were present, they appeared to be a bit short-handed. All of our appetizers and main dishes were decent—neither remarkable nor disappointing—but I found the sushi rolls to be rather large and ungraceful. Most required two bites to consume and tended to fall apart after the first bite! However, the ingredients were fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing. Beer and wine were offered, but once again, the menu lacked descriptions and prices. In a city brimming with excellent seafood and sushi options, I wouldn’t choose Yamato as a destination again unless I happened to be in the area, as I was recently."
