"I have been here many times, both dine in and carry out. The food is always right, and decent portions. I usually leave with a doggie bag. Do be careful with spice level it seems to depend on who is in the kitchen that night. I ordered a 3 recently (my usual) and it was so hot I had to send it back. They got another meal out pretty quickly though, and it was delicious."

"Sugar Shack never disappoints! Always a must visit when in Ocean Isle. Order the steak, ribs, chicken wings, coconut shrimp and you can’t go wrong. So many other delicious choices as well and don’t forget to add some of their famous sauce. The slaw, which comes with the entrees, is the best around. "It has been said if you want to understand and learn about a culture, you should eat their food. I like Jamaican jerk chicken, I like rice and peas, also known as rice with beans. The flavor of the Caribbean, found with the bahamians as well as the Haitians. Those flavors are to be found here. The people who waited on me were very friendly and inviting. I went here for lunch with a friend he had the oxtail he remarked that it was very good. I had the jerk chicken with the barbecue sauce on it. Understand they put barbecue sauce all over the plate not just on the chicken. So if you ask for barbecue you better love barbecue sauce because they put lots on it. You should try this place you may find it to your liking."

"Highly disappointed!! Need to work on both delivery and pick up service. This was the fourth time I ordered food and had to wait a long time to get it. Ordered delivery this time around the driver took 2 hours to deliver. Call the restaurant the lady kept saying the food will be there soon, and she will call me back to let me know what’s going on. She never called lied! Only to find out the food never left the restaurant no driver assigned to deliver the food. Order was placed at 3:50 food got delivered way after 5. The driver said the restaurant never called him and reached out to him mins after 5. What made it worst they gave me the wrong order! Sickening."

"I found a great place that serves delicious and fresh Caribbean food. They have a wide variety of options including oxtail, curry goat, shrimp, and fish. I highly recommend trying the Rasta Pasta as it is creamy and the portion sizes are generous for the price. It might be a bit crowded during lunch time because they are very popular. The service is excellent and very accommodating. I will definitely be looking into their delivery options for my everyday meals."

"Dad and I went to visit the national cemetery (grandpa is buried) for memorial day weekend. Decided to eat in Leavenworth before headed back to K.C. and stopped at Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant. Fantastic! We both had the jerk pork dish with red beans and rice and it did not disappoint. My pork was a bit fattier than my dad's portion but, boy did it just melt in my mouth. "I used to live in Kernersville and ate at the Don Juan there. This one is a notch down from Kernersville but still a few notches above the average Mexican restaurant. Today, service was the highlight, food coming in second. It could have had a more polished presentation and more seasoning. Overall it was good, but I was hoping for great. The atmosphere is good and you can have a conversation over lunch without yelling across the table. Prices are good especially for the portion size. I'll come back."

"I'm so glad I decided to drop by this restaurant for lunch. Upon entering, I noticed there were two options: a dining area and a takeout section. I absolutely loved the vibrant colors in the architecture. There's also outdoor seating, which I can imagine is quite lively in the evenings. I opted for takeout, and the staff were very helpful. I ordered chicken curry and a beef patty. The patty was so delicious that I couldn't resist eating it before I even got home. The chicken curry, which was meant to be my lunch, will probably be enough to feed my entire family for dinner, and it tasted fantastic! The prices are incredibly reasonable. I can't wait to return and try more of their offerings!"

"Everyone knows that Golden Krust offers below-average Jamaican food, but the experience at this location was particularly disappointing. I cannot recommend ordering oxtail from here under any circumstances. I was really hungry and have a fondness for oxtail, but even the large portion contained only about four pieces of meat, and I struggled to finish it. The flavor was unusual, almost like it had been seasoned with cilantro. The meat itself was dry and tough. Instead of a rich oxtail gravy, it was just oil. The steamed vegetables were heavily seasoned with cilantro instead of the traditional thyme. Additionally, the white rice was crispy and lacked flavor (I had ordered spinach rice, but they overlooked that request)."

"Highly recommend! The flavor of the food was delicious. We ordered the jerk chicken lunch plate and the jerk salmon. I knew this restaurant was going to be good when the sweet plaintain were actually sweet! The rice and peas were really delicious too. Not only was the food good but make sure you get the Tropical Storm Margarita. That coconut flavor made the drink instantly one of my favorites. The watermelon margarita was refreshing too. I appreciate that they are not stingy with the drink size too! The host was really kind and offered recommendations based on the type of drink we wanted. Great service, great music, and great food and drinks! I will be back again for my birthday! Yes, I’ll drag my butt from Brooklyn out to Long Island for this. Next time I’m going for the curry chicken and the macaroni."

"I ordered the large oxtails and the BBQ chicken, and both dishes were excellent—definitely worth the detour we took to get there. The oxtails were tender and practically melted in my mouth. The server was very friendly and happy to answer my questions, so I’d give the service a 5. The food also deserves a 5 for its great taste. However, the decor of the restaurant is more of a 2. "I only give two stars because I was refunded this time! I loved this place the owner (jamaican lady) was very nice and pleasant. I recently know, however, that I was served over eating. Yeah, that's not fresh. this is the third and last time I get spoiled food from this place! the first two times I talked to the man who was there. He was quite rude and insulted me to tell him that the food was not fresh and that it began to smell a few hours after the purchase. I was very professional, but he was so heated because he says he thought I was just getting a refund! as a HUGE advocate of my culture - especially his kitchen, so I had no reason to call this restaurant harmful! I just gave my feedback as I (good or bad) place with any other I visit. there is a saying that is good and humble when it comes to people who prepare their food, and therefore this is my last visit to this restaurant. I've got a dizzy pain of confident chomping down the pampered tears and exalted, which I literally bought only 2pm today, 2nd august 2022. I bought stew chicken w/ rice and inherit and jerk truthahn wing, and some other dry things like tutti fruti etc. the truthahn wings were not fresh and the hay was in order, but the rice was 100% away - up to the point where it came slim out of the fork when I pulled it out of the rice! yes! I feel so terrible to write this critique, but honestly, because I would rather tell the owner himself or those with the people there, but from my last 2 experiences, and from the 2-3 characters in the load. I don't think they're open to it! all sales are definitely not refunds no exchange)I guess the only thing I really gave a refund for the bad one-pot chicken meal against their policies."

I had some colleagues in development who were eager to try Caribbean cuisine, so we ended up ordering almost everything on the menu. "Visit us!!! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that the restaurant was closed during lunch hours, but the menu choices were definitely worth the visit. I tried the spicy soybeans, spinach rice, delightful vegetables, and roasted plantains. The macaroni and cheese looked so tempting that I decided to order a side as well. "Oh my God, this lady is so sweet! The roti and curry here are the best. She reminds me of my sister-in-law back home. This restaurant has quickly become my favorite. As a truck driver, parking can be a challenge since my truck is 70 feet long, but it’s never an issue here. I simply call ahead, and she brings my food right out to me in just 5 seconds.
