Generations of families come back again and again, with new parents relishing in the memories of coming in with their parents decades before. They were ahead of the curb on the vegetarian and vegan scene, offering tofu dogs and boca burgers long before vegan options became the norm. These are reasons to appreciate Tommy 's and be sure to check it out if you 're in the area. Now, for the food. For what you get, essentially oldschool diner food, Tommy 's is pricey. The prices are comparable to those served at shops with freshly baked bread and house made seitan or veggie burgers. In my opinion, the prices went up with the times but the quality of offerings have pretty much remained the same. With the exception of the Tofutti and Rice Dream shakes, the oldschool vegan meals simply aren 't very good when compared to the handmade stuff restaurants are pumping out today. A tofu pup and boca burger are memorable in so far as they signify how bad things used to be for vegans. Many diners require more effort in their vegan options these days and, to be honest, that requirement was long overdue.
