"Out with Rochelle for dining on December 1, 2023 after working. The Christmas atmosphere was a blaze. The red, green colors grace the path to the Lobby. We ordered and proceeded with the bread and butter course. A trio was playing and they took a brake; a young boys place his fingers on the ivory and he went classical. This was most refreshing and changed the atmosphere. Yes, we were waiting on the appetizers when a birthday party adjacent to table started to ramp up. The birthday party members were overflowing to our table and we moved after they continued to act as if they were in a private room. Rochelle started with mushrooms soup with crispy mushrooms garnish. The soup was creamy with the taste for more..... the favor more ... soup was well pleasing to palate. The salad with salmon that prepared to Rochelle's liking with crispy skin and fish with cooked mild. The salad with white anchovies was plated and was very pleasing. Leonard has salmon stripes with couscous and crab meat. We were eating well. The asparagus was a garnish that should been more than bites. We has teas and dessert. The apple crumble was cleanly wanting at best. The one scoop of crispy 1/16 thick apple slice on top was great. We enjoy the space that carried the climate of Christmas. We think the Christmas vibe was more the up! Shalom salad with financial reasons was played it for Leonard white anchovies was played it for,"

"Always loved this place but have to say this experience was disappointing, considering the price range. The service was excellent as usual and it is one of the reasons I like Melvin’s. As for the food Bread at the price level for the restaurant, why are you charging for the bread? Also the Maitre d’hotel butter seemed to be just butter. Where this free as in most restaurants it would not have warranted a comment. Cesar Salad had obviously been plated hours ahead of time as the chlorophyll from the Romain lettuce had leached into the dressing and was stuck to the plate. Shrimp Cocktail the shrimp tasted old and watery. French Onion Soup truly disappointing. It was excessively sweet, making it unpalatable. I asked what had been done to make it so and the answer was, they add brown sugar to get the caramelization look. It is the only soup on the menu, do it right and in the classical tradition. Probably they need to also drop the addition of leeks. It is very easy to caramelize onions, butter and medium heat and patience. Steelhead Trout good taste, nicely presented and enjoyable. Steak Diane classically made with New York strip steak, this wasn’t. The meat was tender and cooked to temperature. The sauce prepared and flambé at table side was acceptable, perhaps a little strong on the garlic and shallots but all round acceptable flavor. Loaded Baked Potato nicely done and flavorful. Cherries Jubilee nicely done, table side. This was a plus dinner it did not meet up to the price nor the expectations and previous experiences of this restaurant. We will probably not return"
