"Having worked as a server in my younger years—though I was quite good at it, with experience ranging from casual dining to fine dining—I expected better service. After sitting down, we waited about 10 minutes before having to ask for service. I remained calm about it, but it turned out the server was clocking out, and a new server was just starting their shift.
The bartender made three trips to our table: first to take our drink order, then to wipe the table with a towel that was too wet, and again to dry it. After that, the bartender didn't return. We waited another 20 minutes before receiving the menus, which we had to request after that long wait. We placed our drink order and then waited another 20 minutes for the food. The server never checked back on us or asked if we needed anything else during that time. Instead, she brought a carryout box without asking if we needed it first. Finally, we had to ask for the check.
Clearly, there is a significant need for server training here. I left a 10% tip because there was no friendliness, no small talk, and no effort made to build a connection with us, even for just a few moments. With my background in restaurant service—spanning everything from breakfast diners to fine dining, including banquet service and catering—I've learned that all customers need attention, even if it's just a quick visit to their table.
The food, on the other hand, was decent, and I might return to see if the service improves. I believe the bartender shouldn’t have started our service without informing the new server that we needed to be attended to. A bartender should lead the bar and keep the flow of service going.
Overall, I would give this place 3 stars. The atmosphere was nice, without any rowdy behavior. It was football night, the volume was enjoyable, and it seemed to be a great spot for couples enjoying a meal together."
