"This was the second time dining at Salt Charcoal since an overall pleasant experience for my birthday dinner back in November last year. The same issues that I let slide last time still remained and we had the same server who I assume is the main issue. We have some food allergies and had called prior to make sure that they were flexible and aware how to prepare. The receptionist assured we would be fine and they are accommodating. Back in November we had received food with no modifications and had to sadly send it back although it was beautifully presented. We waited a while again before a new one came out and we thought ok all is good. Fast forward to two nights ago and we have the same waiter. He was still unsure of almost every ingredient in the dishes and was not confident in any answer often saying yes then oh no wait.. yes. At this point we made sure that they could prepare what we had last time. When it came out it was missing several ingredients that are gluten free already... We had to then request that those ingredients that were missing be added back. Again the food is delicious here and I love the presentation. It is just not a fun experience when your service is unsure what to do and doesn 't seek immediate help from the kitchen or other staff. Allergies are no joke and it should be the responsibility of the staff to be aware of what they can and cannot serve their clients."

"When we arrived, the young waiter did not acknowledge us for almost ten minutes, despite other staff members suggesting where we should be seated. Once we were finally seated, he ignored us again for another fifteen minutes until another employee had to direct him to our table. After we managed to place our order, he confirmed it, and we agreed it was correct. However, we continued to wait without receiving any soup that was supposed to come with our meals. Eventually, a waitstaff member who was assisting brought my wife her soup, and when she asked about our two egg flower soups, she was given those as well. Meanwhile, the young waiter was occupied taking another table's order and told them they could just check the menu for side orders they wanted. He seemed to be in a bad mood. We waited another thirty minutes, and my family shared my wife’s meal while we continued to wait for mine. When the waiter finally walked by, I asked him about my order (the number 12), and he simply said it hadn't been ordered. I told him I had indeed ordered it, and he replied that he would go put it in. In frustration, I told him not to worry about it, and he walked away. By this time, our three kids were restless, and we didn’t want to wait any longer. I asked another waitress for our check, and she could sense something was wrong. When we received the bill, it included the number 12, which had already been marked as paid. As we were in the middle of the restaurant, the waiter suddenly announced that my food was ready. I explained to him that I no longer wanted it, but he began conversing with his coworkers in their language, so we decided to leave. I have never been so disappointed in one of my favorite local restaurants. My family and I used to come here once or twice a month, and it saddens me to say we will not be returning."
