"Then it was my turn. When I approached the window, the greeting was simply, “May I help you?” Gone was the previous warmth and friendly demeanor. As an African American woman who has frequented this location because it’s convenient for me on my way home, I couldn't help but notice the shift in atmosphere. I smiled and said, “Wow, the atmosphere has changed.” The lady just gave me a blank stare. I provided her with my name, and she took my payment method. After processing the charge, she handed me my receipt to sign and walked away.
Earlier, she had handed the gentleman his receipt through the window to sign. After signing my receipt, I placed it back in the window. When she returned, she looked at it briefly before setting my food in the window and simply saying, “Thank you,” and walking away again. I was the only customer in the lobby at that moment, having arrived after the gentleman and his son. There were approximately three other staff members behind the counter, one of whom, cutting sushi, looked just as puzzled as I felt. I was dissatisfied with the customer service.
As for the food, it was acceptable until I bit into an eggshell in my chicken fried rice, which ruined my dinner. Since it was a to-go order, I didn't bother calling back."
