"I’m a big fan of Lebanese food from years spent calling on Toledo accounts. Toledo is the US home to Lebanese cuisine in my mind and Byblos is right at the top. Food-wise, Mary’z reminded me of Byblos. Hummus was outstanding, falafel sandwich included Lebanese pickle and radish, as I’ve come to like it. Taboulah was more tomato and citrus than barely and parsley, yum. The pitas were a bit wimpy but that’s a nitpick. They were supposed to allow bringing in wine with a corkage which we did, bringing in a fine bottle of aged Turley Petite Syrah. But I noticed others bringing in or bottles of fighting varietals and it made sense when they didn’t charge the corkage. Those folks were taking advantage of the fact that they hadn’t been charging corkage during the time when their wine and beer license was being approved. That happened last week and these folks either didn’t know or didn’t care so they brought in their two-buck Chuck despite there being multiple bottles of fairly priced, similar wines on the menu. Then I heard the manager was going to stop letting people bring in wine. No!!!! Fools abusing a corkage policy in-flux by bringing in wines is just ruining it for the people who have cellars and don’t mind paying corkage to have the privilege of using their cellar in this crazy state which forbids corkage when a full-liquor license is granted, even if the proprietor is okay with it. I hope Mary’z doesn’t go the no outside wine route. Rant aside, we will certainly return. I give it thumbs up. Llama Cafe may be looking at hard times with Mary’z down the street."

"My great-grandfather brought the family from Beirut in 1902. After his wife died in the 1920s, my grandmother left school to treat the household. All the time when I grew up in the 50s and 60s and in my college year in the 70s, she cooked wonderful Lebanese food for me and the family. Nothing I ever had in a restaurant compared to food from their kitchen. Yeah, I'm a very hard sale when it comes to a Meditteranean/Lebanese restaurant. Only Fadi’s is ever near Nanas home kitchen. This food must be very fresh with many dominant flavors. The cube must be rather soft and still firm and give an immediate taste with or without Labyn. Tabboulih must be particularly tart. Baba Ganoush must have this special eggplant texture and taste. Jasmine rice needs a delicate taste. Stuffed grape leaves should have a lemon tartness to them and be rolled thick. The baklava should be layered in the fluffy dough and have this special nutty texture and taste with every bite. The chefs can't make shortcuts or fake it. I'll see her. The cooks of Fadi know exactly how to prepare and serve this very specific food. All I mentioned is perfectly prepared for Fadi. Kibbe is fried or baked as it is ordered, so it could be the freshest. They'll take it to your table. The various types of hummus entice you first, along with their homemade pita bread. There are almost too many salads, from easy to choose. Her meat (especially lamb) is covered in lush engravings. Rice is in hills. That's the best I ever tasted outside my grammar kitchen. It is not unusual for me and my wife (which has learned all recipes professionally) to make the almost 200 mile round trip to lunch in Fadi. The portions are so big that we always bring a lot of food home with us. This surprising restaurant was recommended for years by a Lebanese doctor from me in medicine. Fadi never disappointed me."

"Love this place! Would give it 5 stars if I could. This rating will encompasses Norma’s sit down , Cous Cous hookah lounge, restaurant , and the little grocery shop don’t know if it has a separate name since the food is all from the same place. They have a very wide selection of vegan options and are knowledgeable about vegans. Currently, there is at least one staff member that is vegan and the owner was vegan for years. The meals are clearly marked vegan; however, there are a lot of vegan items that aren’t marked so be sure to ask. Me and the hubby have had the following aps dishes: hummus outstanding , Fuul Moudamas delicious , Baba Ghanouj delicious , vegan Bastilla soooo good , Harrira soup, falafel wrap I hate wraps and still loved this , tofu shwarma wrap, tofu tajin dinner I never order the tofu option, but this is tofu done very well , vegan moussaka, every type of baklawa they use rose water instead of honey, cashew is the best, trust me , some snacks from the grocery, and spinach turnovers. Everything is amazing. It’s difficult to recommend just one item. Normally, I would say get the specialty items not the standard stuff but the falafel is perfect, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. I prefer the shwarma wrap a tiny bit more than the tajin dinner both pretty much the same thing except the dinner has cous cous and veggies. The Bastilla is amazing and so is the moussaka. The tofu wrap and dinner are amazing! They use little tofu shreds. I never order the tofu options but our waiter talked me into trying it and I am so happy he did. We love everything so much, that we visit at least once a month despite the location being over 30 minutes away. The only issue I have, is that we end up spending a ton of money and bringing meals and leftovers home. Another issue is that we don’t do the hookah lounge on a weekend night slightly late because the music is blaring and we are just too old for that."
