"We’ve been excited to try Claude’s for awhile. Maybe the high expectations made it a bigger letdown than it would have been otherwise, but here are the pros and cons: PRO: one side of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with amazing ambience. CON: we were seated on the other side which looks like a banquet hall with almost no ambience and was extremely loud. I gazed sadly over at the pretty side of the restaurant and tried to hear what my husband was saying as we conversed over the noise. PRO: our server was very nice and fairly attentive. CON: I ordered a glass of wine and the server greeted me like I was crazy because she didn’t think they had it. We had to open up the wine list and I to show it to her. The fact that she didn’t know it was there was one thing, but making me feel stupid for ordering it was another. PROS:My scallops and my husband’s branzino were beautifully presented. They LOOKED perfect. The oysters Rockefeller appetizer was delicious. Lobster bisque was ok. CONS: The branzino was full of bones, which our server said couldn’t be avoided, but this is something we have ordered other places and never had an issue with. Again, we were made to feel stupid for even questioning it. The scallops were perfectly cooked but so salty it was hard to enjoy them. The asparagus that accompanied them was so salty that I couldn’t even finish it. So much potential for this restaurant, but way too much to spend for the over salted food, poor atmosphere (if you get stuck on the wrong side of the restaurant), and server that left us feeling bad for ordering a glass of wine she didn’t know about and questioning all of the bones. We are bummed because we love seafood and were hopeful to finally find a good seafood place in the Toledo area. If it wasn’t as high end in terms of price we’d give it another try and hoped for a better cook/server working that night, but definitley don’t want to risk spending that on another disappointing experience."
