"It 's easy to impress me. I don 't need a fancy party with caviar or champagne...nor do I need scintillating company...give me the most rustic, homey food and my family for company with some good laughs thrown in...and I am over the top impressed We went in here with low expectations and a groupon $40 worth of food for $29 . I looked at the menu online and it looked good standard north indian . One thing worth noting is prices in the online menu are different from the prices in the printed menu in the restaurant eg. we ordered the Maharaja Non vegetarian Royal Feast for two which is listed on the online menu for $40.95 but was actually $44.95 in the printed menu . That said the food offered and their service was well worth the money spent. We left tummy full and very happy with the courteous service shout out to Harry the host who patiently answered our questions about the meal and was over all wonderful! We also saw a lot of people walk in and out and try their appetizers as a part of a Restaurant Walk...they were leaving blown away with the experience and happy : Now coming to the meal we ordered the feast because we wanted to taste a variety of different things They started us off with the roasted papadum which was brilliant with the sweet tamarind chutney and the spicy koriander chutney. Our appetizers were a malai chicken tikka which was very well spiced, flavored and tender/moist and a sheekh kabab lamb which was flawlessly executed. Our main meal was a Lamb Kheema Matar again executed perfectly, really well cooked and a chicken tikka masala which my son absolutely loved . With these entrees they got us whole wheat tandoori rotis we didnt ' want the garlic naan as it 's cooked with white flour/maida and they graciously substituted...bottomline if you ignore the health flag I have heard that the garlic naan is OUT OF THIS WORLD and mildly flavored basmati rice. They got us an order of Dal Makhani Which was excellent and I lived in Delhi, so I have had some really good Dal Makhani ,a peas and potato curry excellent! and raita it was good! . Harry also got us raw red onions and lemon to complement our meal we asked for it and he remembered to get it for us with our meal . He got us extra tandoori rotis as my family is not a rice eating family at no charge . Our dessert was soft, yummy Gulab Jamoons with Kheer....that my son annhilated. We will definitely be repeating this experience it was brilliant !!!"

"Prior to my recent visit to Ghareeb Nawaz, I had been here a couple of times before but that was more than 10 years ago. Since then, the restaurant has gotten a face lift and an upgrade. Ghareeb Nawaz is known for their homey, late night (at least in the past when I went) eats at very inexpensive prices. I was on my way back from downtown and decided to pick up dinner from here for the following night. I placed my order over the phone and was informed that it would be ready in 20 minutes and should be paid as cash only. I ordered: Butter Chicken (med spicy) Lamb Nihari (spicy) Beef Bihari Kebab (extra spicy) 2 tandoori chapati 2 paratha I got there in 20 minutes and the food was ready. We were surprised that these items were already prepared to go in the alloted time given especially how busy they were when I got there around 10 pm. I paid cash and picked up my order. One of the attendants repeated my order by looking in my carry out to confirm what I had gotten. I did not open the bag to see if everything was okay or not. Fast forward the following night at home for dinner when we sat down to eat this meal. The Butter Chicken smelled off as if it had been spoiled and was mild. The Lamb Nihari was not spicy but had decent flavor. I had to add Indian extra hot chili powder to make it spicy. The Beef Bihari Kebab was not a kebab dish but a shredded beef curry type dish and was not spicy either forget extra spicy. The only real tasty things were the parathas and tandoori chapati. This was a huge letdown for us especially given how reputed G N is and its popularity. I did not call the restaurant to complain about this as this was roughly 24 hrs later and I had not check my bag's contents at pick up. However, one thing did solidify for me that in my experience from all the visits to G N, I do not agree with any of the good or better reviews of the food from this place. The food has always been mediocre in taste. I guess that part has not changed for me in going here even after 10+ years. Sorry but I can't rate this place high on their food quality. G N is good for great prices on their extensive menu options and late night hours. It's a popular local establishment that makes the list of cheap eats on Devon Ave. and in Chicago, overall. But for me it doesn't work in terms of quality and taste of food."

"We have been eating at Persis Biryani Hamilton for many years now, and the food was consistently very good. The restaurant has largely extended its menu now with numerous new dishes added in every category, for everyone 's like and taste. Tonight 's take-out, however, left us somewhat disappointed. While we live less than 10 minutes ' drive from the restaurant, and some dishes like Bhindi Masala and Shrimp Chettitinadu were warm, the Shish Lamb Kebab that is supposed to come sizzling hot from tandoori oven was as cold and bone-dry as it could possibly be. It felt like it was prepared many hours prior to our order and was never heated. The supposedly butter naan was a piece of stale bread, on a harder side too. The restaurant has to take adequate measure to improve its operation to satisfy its customers, especially in our trying times. PS. I just changed my rating (3 stars originally) due to the phone call received from a restaurant a few minutes ago, containing nonsensical if not outright false claims. According to the management, the food was ready by 6 PM in their system because the delivery is done via GrubHub. Why? The GrubHub order was specified as 6:45 (10 minutes ' drive to our house), so WHY was it ready 35 minutes prior? Secondly, two other dishes came in warm, so it has nothing to do with delivery. For the management 's refusal to own up their poor service, asking me in addition to remove my review, the restaurant is getting 1 star."
