"My friend and I get dinner once a month. It was my turn to choose and I found the Yemen Cafe on Yelp. I chose their Bay Ridge location because I found that the neighborhood had some other cool places to check out as well.The place is fairly large and very popular. We got there fairly early, so we were able to get a table. There was a real authenticity to the place, as the crowd seemed largely Yemeni (or at the very least Arabic). The gentleman waiting on our table turned out to be the owner's son. He was friendly and proud of their food. The meal started with complimentary lamb broth, served with lemon and hot sauce. They also brought a delicious round flat bread to the table. We selected a lamb liver appetizer and a lamb in broth stew to get started. The service is quick and the food was served hot. The liver dish was tasty, it was nicely mixed with spices and peppers. The liver flavor was more present than some of the fried preparations I've had elsewhere but it wasn't overpowering. The lamb stew was amazingly tender, it went well with pieces of the flatbread. We moved on to the lamb haneeth, which was recommended as a national dish. It was a very nicely slow cooked lamb on the bone dish, served with rice and some nice winter squash.I felt very comfortable at the Yemen Cafe. I even got to have a brief conversation with the owner's son regarding Yemeni politics. We were given a complimentary cup of sweet tea and it nicely wrapped up a great experience."

"Unfortunately, we couldn't order any additional food because the chef decided to leave early. The kitchen was supposed to close at 3 PM, but the chef chose to wrap things up early, which cut our experience at Punjabi Kadhai short. The service was mediocre, too. When we arrived at 2:10 PM, we were informed that the restaurant would be closing at 3 PM and that we needed to finish our meal by then. However, since the chef left early, we had to continue our lunch elsewhere. I want to add an update to my review: less than two hours after I posted, I noticed a review from someone named Cathy, likely a fake account created by one of the restaurant staff, dismissing our feedback about the dosa. I wish this "Cathy" understood what a genuine South Indian dosa should taste like. To post a review so soon after mine, and when the restaurant was closed and scheduled to reopen later that evening, only reinforces our suspicion that it came from a pseudo-restaurant account!"

"Stopped by this place while on a road trip to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. We looked them up online and saw that they had vegan options. We arrived and looked at the menu outside, but nothing was clearly labeled as vegan, only vegetarian. We were pretty sure what items we were going to eat but had a few questions. We entered the restaurant, which was pleasant looking. The woman at the front finished helping another customer and turned to us. My friend asked her “does the pita contain dairy?” To which the woman responded “I have no idea. I really wouldn’t be the person to ask.” We were all confused. My friends said “okay, who would be.” She shrugged and said “google?” At that point we walked out of the restaurant and decided not to eat in a place where that was how we would be treated. It was a shame because after we left, it looked like she was being reprimanded by the owners. Honestly, it was frustrating and disrespectful, and we had driven 20 minutes, paid a toll, and crossed a bridge just to turn around and go right back to find somewhere else to eat."

"I used to love this restaurant and order often from it, but they let go of the quality. the salad that comes with the grill was horrible, spoiled ingredients, stale fries, they took away the option to customize and increased the prices significantly. will probably not order from here again anytime soon unless they make positive changes."

"I really love this restaurant, but during our visit, they were out of our favorite appetizer. We all wanted to order lamb, but they informed us that there was only one lamb dish left. We also asked for a raw onion, but they didn’t have any available. The place wasn't as crowded as usual, which was surprising. We later found out that they are closing and relocating. Since we were celebrating my birthday, I was a bit disappointed, even though this is one of my favorite spots. It would have been helpful if they had informed us about their situation from the beginning, as it would have clarified a lot. I believe they should still ensure they provide food for their customers right up until closing."

"I am a regular customer at Dijla and often go there for food. I've mentioned several times, including when ordering over the phone, that I prefer not to have a lot of oil in my meals. I choose Mediterranean cuisine because it isn't supposed to be oily. Last night, I ordered a couple of wraps and specifically requested that they not add too much oil. However, when I got home and started eating, I noticed the wraps were saturated with oil. Please communicate this request clearly to your cooks or whoever takes the orders, so this issue can be addressed."

"Being from a tiny town in northwest WA, I had no concept of what food from Yemen was like. We came on a whim and were blown away—particularly my wife, who loves lamb. The portions were generous and the flavors delicious. The chicken zorbian had cloves and what looked like a cinnamon stick mixed in, giving it a unique flavor. While the service was a bit slow, the restaurant was packed, so I can’t fault them much for that. And not too expensive for the quality of the food!"

"Bad reviews are correct! I don't do reviews but this place needs one and this place will get a real bad one that reflects their bad food and service. We ordered over $65 worth of food and was surprised at how awful they were compared to how it used to be. The food was so different and definitely not real Indian food. Our samosa was cold inside and what seemed to be stuffed frozen ingredients. We also ordered vindaloo and in my many experiences eating that dish, it had never looked the way I received it from this place. And the meat was almost to nothing. Shame on the new people who has taken over. This business will not last because no one would want to eat here and their service is awful. They kept putting us on hold. No wonder there are nothing but 1 star reviews lately. No star from me at all. Will never order from here anymore."
