"This COULD be a favorite of ours...BUT...to be black-owned and operated, how can they NOT have corn bread--especially on a Sunday--at Sunday Brunch???! Well, they did not. They had no substitute for cornbread; did not even offer us toast or bread of any kind to go with our BRUNCH! SHOCKING! The food was good, quite tasty--but the portions were tiny. I had the fish and grits; my dining partner had the chicken and waffles. The small piece of fish that came on my plate was really pathetic it was THAT small. Delicious but puny. Instead of the alcoholl we had OJ and lemonade for our beverages. The OJ did not taste fresh--and it was not fresh. The iced-water had to do--but even the iced water did not come with lemon. So, all in all, I 'd say our dining experience this time, for Sunday Brunch, was way-off and I would rate the dinimg experience as so-so, at best. We could not be seated where we wanted to be--far away from the noisy crowd at the too-close tables; we insisted on a table away from them and were told we had to finish up within an hour in order to be seated there because of some kind of entertainment event that was being set up (noisily) right in front of our side-table. So, our Brunch was rushed--and skimpy. The owner ought to be present to straighten out this place and service. And speaking of service ' the restaurant on its one added a hefty tip, under the service fee which I had to explain to my guest was a modern way of imposing a mandatory tip, regardless of the kind of service rendered. This COULD be a nice Brunch spot, if we weren 't nickle-and-dimed, and if they served corn bread. Mickey Michaels"
