"I really wanted to like Veggie Y Que. I appreciate their commitment to making everything from scratch in their kitchen. After hearing glowing reviews from friends, I finally had the chance to visit their location in Whittier. I was a bit hesitant about the fillings in the Burrito as I am a fan of rice and was worried about missing it. As a potato lover, I was excited to try the house style. I opted for the al pastor Burrito but was disappointed after a few bites. Despite confirming that I wanted everything in my Burrito, it lacked the promised cebolla, cilantro, and avocado crema. The beans and potatoes lacked texture and flavor, which was completely overshadowed by the aggressively seasoned protein. The spice level wasn't even sharp, just overpowering, and missing the sweet pineapple typically found in al pastor. If the Burrito was more reasonably priced, I might consider giving Veggie Y Que another chance due to my support for small vegan businesses. However, after my experience with the al pastor, I am not in a rush to return."
