"First, I received a call the day before New Year’s informing me that it would be a buffet. One of my friends decided not to come after discovering there were very few vegetarian options, and paying $55 for a salad and dessert didn’t sit well with her. Unfortunately, since we only learned about the buffet the day prior, there wasn't much time to find an alternative restaurant for that evening.
When we arrived at 7:30 PM, the restaurant was nearly empty, and the quiet atmosphere made it feel even more desolate. The buffet was decent, but given the $55 price tag, I expected it to be presented more elegantly and offer a wider variety of options. Overall, the food was good, and there was plenty of it since the place wasn’t busy at all.
The odd part was that the staff seemed to want to avoid us entirely; they didn’t come by to take our drink orders. After more than 30 minutes of waiting, we managed to flag someone down to order a bottle of wine. A different staff member then approached with two open bottles, telling us the one we wanted was unavailable and suggesting we taste the ones he had. It was unclear whether we would receive an unopened bottle or if we were expected to choose from the already opened ones.
By 8:30, they started closing the restaurant around us (on New Year’s Eve), clearing away all the food. What could have been a lovely evening turned out to be rather strange and disappointing. At least the staff got to leave early and celebrate New Year’s somewhere."
