If given the choice, I think most of us would opt for a Thanksgiving feast lovingly prepared at home over any restaurant meal. However, that wasn't the case for me this year. Without a turkey roasting in the oven, filling my home with the delicious smells of Thanksgiving, I knew I had to find a different option.
As I stepped into Denny's, I handed my online order confirmation to Damon, the restaurant manager. He was warm, cheerful, and welcoming—a refreshing change in today's customer service landscape. Jose, who completed my transaction, shared the same genuine warmth I felt upon entering. I waited only about three minutes before heading home to enjoy dinner with my family.
I won't pretend it was as good as Mom or Grandma’s home cooking, but it was surprisingly delightful. The best part? I didn’t have to deal with the hassle of preparing everything from frozen bags or spend hours thawing and cooking a big meal. There was minimal reheating, and plenty of food for everyone, plus I even ordered extra mashed potatoes to be safe!
I was pleasantly surprised by the experience, and the kindness shown to me made the meal taste even better. Despite the pouring rain all day, the staff at Denny's on Del Obispo clearly worked hard, yet they still took the time to ensure I had a wonderful dinner.
