"*HAPPY HOUR REVIEW* I've worked in the area for years but never tried Blue Ribbon Sushi because it seemed like just basic, overpriced sushi. In 2022, a coworker convinced me to stop by after work to check out their $5 handrolls and BOGO select beer and sake happy hour (4-7 PM). We arrived around 5 PM when it was moderately busy but still plenty of space between diners—things seem to get crowded after 6. The happy hour menu offers $5 handrolls with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, or avocado. Customizations like adding cucumber, avocado, or spice cost extra. I tried the spicy yellowtail, salmon avocado, and tuna handrolls. The spicy yellowtail was definitely the standout, though the sauce was just drizzled on top rather than mixed in. The salmon was a bit bland, while the tuna was reliable and tasty. The happy hour deal is also available for takeout, which is great if you’re not in the mood to cook; however, handrolls are best enjoyed fresh to avoid soggy seaweed. While these handrolls satisfy sushi cravings, they’re nothing extraordinary and probably not worth full price. Still, I don’t mind coming back to Blue Ribbon Sushi, but only during happy hour."
