"I was very excited to try Saffron. We were visiting Omaha from South Dakota and figured this restaurant would be far superior to the Indian we have had, but we were really let down. We tried the shrimp bhuna, lamb korma, chicken masala, and Palak Aloo Matar. The flavors of the meat/veggies were good, but the sauces alone lacked the complexity and depth that makes Indian food so incredible. Normally, we love dipping our naan in the leftover sauce, but none of the sauces could stand on their own. To us, it seemed like they cut down on the spices and added citrus to make it brighter, but it just tasted sour and watered down. Additionally, the naan was far too thin and burnt, to the point where one piece crumbled when my husband tried to pick it up. We didn't even care to finish our naan, which is very out of character for us. The other thing I did not appreciate was the bento box style tray they use for lunch. Indian food isn't meant to be segmented. You should be able to combine the entree with the rice and scoop it up with naan. A plate (and properly cooked naan) would better allow for this. Overall, we would not eat there again, nor would we recommend it to someone who enjoys Indian food. The protein was the only decent part, and you only got 3 pieces per lunch entree (half order)."
