"Indians need not submit feedback While I don 't consider myself a foodie, I am a DC native and ethnic Indian who has, with quite a lot of pride, marveled at how her city has reached culinary height after culinary height over the past few years. It is for this reason that I eagerly attempt to support local restaurants during the COVID 19 pandemic by patronizing new or trending ones typically through food delivery or pick up orders. Le Mirch was our featured restaurant for the week. As a fan of Indian cuisine (I like to think this isn 't necessarily a function of my ethnicity), I was thrilled to try them out. DC is, after all, home to some stellar Indian restaurants Bombay Club, Rasika, Punjab Grill, Pappe, NaanWise and Commonwealth India (admittedly the latter is in MD) are some of my all time favorite restaurants, capable of catering to a range of tastes and spice/heat tolerances. I was thus sorely disappointed with what was delivered by Le Mirch to my home address. Leaving aside the food presentation, which I make allowances for given that food items necessarily gets jostled around in transit despite the best attempts of our hard working DC delivery partners, the food itself was bland, tasteless and swimming in oil. The attached photo of the Masala Crab dish is but one of several examples of the subpar meals we were delivered. What the photo fails to adequately convey was the subtle rancidity of the protein, and the strange viscosity of the dish. Indeed, all of the starters the epinard and aubergine tower went straight to the trash. All in all, it broke my heart to have to bin some $140 worth of food the quality of the food not being close to commensurate with the price tag. That being said, these things can happen in those instances, I take it upon myself to convey my feedback to the restaurant 's management on the assumption that, well, they take some pride in their work. Imagine my surprise then, when I spoke to the restaurant owner to convey my negative feedback with the hope that he would make things right. Rather than engage on the substance of my feedback, the owner decided to focus on my ethnicity. I am, in his view in a category of people who complain and want their money back, I can only complain about 1 item but not about 5 items, and I must be used to eating my homemade Indian food. While the first two remarks don 't necessarily implicate my race, I took the last as a clear stereotypical jibe at my race and gender which I found offensive. Thus, if you 're looking for a great takeaway experience without the attendant racial abuse by Le Mirch 's owner, try the restaurants I mentioned at the top Pappe and NaanWise in particular deliver a stellar takeout experience at reasonable prices. Should you try to patronize Le Mirch after reading this review, be forewarned: Indians need not submit feedback."
