"We stumbled across this cute little basement coffee shop while shopping for antiques near the lake. This place is located deep in the basement of the Dewitt-Seitz Marketplace building on Lake Avenue, very close to the lake. To me, Amazing Grace looks a lot like many of the trendy little Twin Cities coffee shops that also serve baked good and lunches. It would be very at home if it sat in Uptown or in the Minneapolis Loop. Four of us hung around for a long time eating pastries and drinking coffee. It's very warm, cozy, and inviting. Despite getting a little busy close to lunch time, all of the staff were very nice and no one pressured us to leave and free up our table. One of the ceiling support beams is covered with paper cup sleeves that customers have personalized with little messages. Pretty cool. Next time we come back, we'll probably stop by again and check out the lunch menu. -Daddy Maxx Cafe"
