"OMG! I will not give the Diplomat the justice it deserves in my review. If I could give 10 stars I would. First off this is not my type of food by any means. My son brought me here to expand my horizons and that they did. Our server was phenomenal. She makes you feel warm, welcomed and simply as a guest at her table. She recommended the octopus and it was an excellent recommendation. We were going to leave because I was not excited by the choices on the menu. However we changed our minds based on the spectacular job on the octopus…. and am I glad we did! This was by far the best food I have ever tasted. We ordered the Trout, Chicken and New York strip. Each dish was more exquisite than the one before. The flavors of the meat were fabulous. The chefs combination of sides and sauces brought everything together and giving your mouth the best Christmas present with a big red bow. Everything had the perfect crunch and texture with perfection. It was a meal that you smile about the next day because it’s reasonably priced and you most definitely get more than you paid for. I highly recommend trying The Diplomat out because I honestly don’t think you would be disappointed. I guarantee you’ll make this you go to place after you experience the excellent service and exquisite food. Thank you for a phenomenal experience last night and I can’t wait to return. I am definitely in love."

"Next, we tried the "Shepherd’s Pie," which was essentially a boat of grease and cheese, scattered with some potatoes and obviously frozen vegetables. The Shepherd’s Pie was, without a doubt, inedible; the grease was so abundant that it made me feel nauseous. I was genuinely disheartened, as my wife and I were looking forward to trying this Irish Pub right in our neighborhood, but we have no plan to return. Given Hibernia's historical ties to Ireland, we certainly did not expect a meal that could belong on Kitchen Nightmares. The Shepherd’s Pie was overwhelmed by cheese, the meat definitely wasn’t lamb or mutton, making the claim of it being traditional nothing short of false. When I asked for the check, the server noticed we had barely touched the Shepherd’s Pie and asked if I wanted a to-go box. When I declined, she didn’t seem surprised at all. Even my wife's salad with grilled chicken clearly featured pre-prepared chicken, which was disappointing. It would be fantastic to see this place use fresh ingredients and create authentic Shepherd’s Pie. Until they do, I would advise against dining here. My wife and I are not food snobs, and I rarely write Google reviews, but it’s disheartening to see a restaurant in the heart of Fleming Island serving such subpar meals. I genuinely hope they bring in someone skilled in preparing traditional dishes."
