"I was really excited and looking forward to this experience. After reading many good reviews and seeing some great photos, it seemed like a pretty good option. NOPE. And let me say, I do NOT mind paying the costs for dining experiences, but this just wasn’t it! Parking was $10, no problem (although it was a very short walk and the option was unnecessary to me). I got a BBQ shrimp appetizer. It was $28 I think. And it was basically 5 or 6 shrimp on top of a toasted bun…good flavor, grossly overpriced. The shrimp was not my first choice. I asked for oysters, they did not have it. So, that’s how I ended up with the overpriced shrimp. I originally wanted the braised oxtail, they didn’t have it either. So, my waiter recommended the ribeye. It was very tasty and a good recommendation. With that said, the asparagus was extremely withered and the mashed sweet potatoes were much cooler than room temperature. The waiter brought me better asparagus and I feel pretty confident that they heated the potatoes and returned them as opposed to bringing fresh ones (the option he offered). I did not eat the potatoes. We also had Sea Bass….it was tasteless as it sat atop of a very large amount of mashed potatoes. The waiter was very attentive and the bright spot of the evening. The food was not what I was expecting, at all. The waiter apologized profusely and said things were crazy because they were shorthanded, but there were only MAYBE 4 other diners at the time we went. I seriously doubt I will be returning and yes, I was very hurt and disappointed that this evening fell very short of expectations, as it relates to the dining experience with Rare."
