"I went here today to grab lunch. Although the restaurant had plenty of open tables, we were told by the hostess, who barely greeted us, that they were not taking walk ins. Okay strange but fine. Before leaving and standing 2 feet away from the hostess stand, we started to look on open table to research where else to go and saw that there were actually plenty of open reservations at this restaurant at the current time. So I booked one for 10 minutes later. I walked back over to her and said I was able to book on open table, so are there tables then? She rudely said yes I 'm just following protocol Umm am I in the twilight zone? I get she 's just a kid, but what kind of place is this? You won 't take walk ins, but I can literally stand there and book in front of the hostess and then it 's okay? Am I being punked? Meanwhile, as I was booking on open table, we saw 2 other parties get told the same thing about not taking reservations and so a total of 8 people left. Why would this be their protocol? And why would you have the most socially inept kid greeting your customers. Between the completely weird seating policy at a restaurant that was not full, the rude hostess who is essentially who you have as the face of your business setting the tone, and the fact that this place has mediocre reviews, we decided to leave as well. So in less than 5 minutes, this place had 10 paying customers leave. I will NEVER go back."

"My spouse and I had been anxiously awaiting to try this local eatery. We made it inside a couple minutes prior to their opening for dinner service on a Monday evening. After about a couple minutes, the doors were opened and we were greeted by two lovely waitresses, one in training. We were literally the first people to be seated and it wasn’t too busy upon our arrival. The lavender lemonade was delightful, definitely recommended. The bread board appetizer is very satisfying. They provide whipped butter and a balsamic dip that’s pretty delish. The chicken little dinner entree was phenomenally good. It comes with tasty mashed potatoes and these heaven sent ginger carrots that I still can’t stop thinking about. The waitresses were sweet and fortunately I’m a human being too so I understand things are wonky, especially for a newbie. I’m also aware they’re short handed and so bless their hearts, I know it’s arduous in their field of work. That being said, they didn’t know their own specials when they tried describing them. It just ended up awkward as we all fake smiled uncomfortably. I saw it later on social media and was interested in the dessert but missed out. The sucky part? They only checked on my spouse and I when they brought the appetizer and entrees. I had to chase them down to order an alcoholic drink for my spouse, refills, and to pay the bill. It was busy at the end of our dinner but it wasn’t for the majority of the time we were there. There were a substantial amount of flies swarming around, no big deal because I’m not naive to restaurants. It became a big deal when the waitresses never checked on us or took our bread board, which led to an abundance of flies settling on our table. It ruined the aesthetic a little bit considering you spend $100 a tip for two. This could’ve easily been prevented. Overall, I’m going to go back again eventually. I want this place to succeed because they serve damn good food. I also support the theory you get what you pay for, but Prairie Hill Cafe needs to ensure they’re meeting the basics at bare minimum."
