"I'd like to thank Erika and the entire staff of chic sugars for baking a beautiful and delicious birthday cake. All my guests were raving about it and we were all surprised and amazed by how moist, airy and flavorful was the vanilla cake, fondant so yummy everyone was asking for more, and chocolate ganache filling tasted like the best expensive chocolate you've ever had. I've had many of these custom cakes before and rarely they are well decorated and tasty at the same time, most times they're meh. The design is exactly what I wanted and came out even better than I expected. Everyone wanted to know where it's from. I'm shocked by the negative reviews for service as well as cake execution (Erika literally was responding to my emails and answering questions until 11 pm, I'm sure way past closing hours) and boy am I glad I didn't read them before, because I probably wouldn't have not chosen chic sugars, but I'm happy I did and hope they won't disappoint in the future."

"As newcomers to the area, we were eager to check out this restaurant! The cinnamon rolls were delicious, but the banana bread was just average—slightly dry. I ordered both a gluten-free blueberry muffin and a regular one, but when my order arrived, they only had the gluten-free option. I had to follow up to confirm this. Unfortunately, the gluten-free muffin was not good at all. While the regular muffin might be tasty, the gluten-free one was practically inedible. I also tried the gluten-free garden herb bread for my sandwich, and that was disappointing as well. It was gummy and crumbled easily, although the flavor was decent thanks to the spices."

"The Meatball Calzone was fantastic, but it would be nice to have some hot spicy sauce on the side for an extra kick. The Gyro was delicious, although the sauce was a bit watery; a thicker sauce would improve it. The Pepperoni Bites (5) were excellent—perfectly cooked. It would be great to see some hot sauce or spicy sauce offered as an option. Overall, a great dining experience. Thank you!"

"I've been looking for a classic local bakery, and I must have literally walked by this one on the way to other things in this shopping center without having registered that it was there. Finally I figured it out. The loaf I ordered was a mild rye flavor and easy to cut they did offer to slice it for me, but I prefer to wait if I'm not going to share the whole thing the day I buy it . Their variety of breads rotates and is quite respectable. There were some very Old Europe vibes coming off of some of the other breads that definitely seemed worth an experiment to me. The pastry selection was a bit more of a mixed bag; there were a lot of things I didn't care for surprisingly limited on vegetarian stuff outside of just straight bread , but the chocolate tart I got was as indulgent as it looked. I've eaten a few grocery store breads, but if I'm going to take on the calories, I might sooner come back here in the future. I'd visit more if they were open on Sunday, which they are not."

"I wanted to buy my boyfriend a quality ice cream cake for his birthday from a local place rather than from a chain store. I stumbled upon this place on google cause it looked like something I was looking for! I don't live too far from forest park so I didn't mind the drive.From first look, this place is an old school ice cream parlor that started back in 2004. In addition to their handmade ice cream, they also sell custom ice cream cakes, pies, and more. I'm sure this place is popular among family and kids in the community! For my custom cake, I chose yellow cake, butter pecan AND cookies n cream ice cream, with white frosting and rainbow sprinkles. The cake was an absolute hit with my bf's friends and I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it (including myself ! I like how you can also choose 2 ice cream flavors. I was mostly able to taste the butter pecan over the cookies n cream but thats ok. Overall, it was a pretty hefty cake and very high quality. Homemade tastes better 100%! I would definitely purchase from here again :"

"My family doesn’t do birthday cake. We do birthday pie. Blueberry pie to be exact. I used to have a friend of mine that’s a professional pastry chef make my yearly birthday pie. Unfortunately, Covid shut down his pastry shop. While researching local bakeries, I found Oak st pie company tucked away next to Babes chicken. I ordered a blueberry pie to compare to the 20 or so other pies I’d tried. No comparison. The detail that goes in to their products astounded me. I was a chef for 35 years. I’ve work all over the US. Some of my employers were James Beard awardees. Oka st pie company beat everyone of the pies is ever tried. The crust, filling and glaze are beyond top notch. Every aspect of the pie was meticulously thought out and assembled. Nothing was just haphazardly added. These pies are works of art."

"It's easy to understand why Yates has the highest rating in the metro area. With numerous activities and delicious food options, it’s an ideal spot for a memorable day with friends or family. The cider and donuts are fantastic, and on weekends, they also serve BBQ ribs and sandwiches with a choice of sweet or spicy sauces, along with hot dogs and roasted corn (you can add mayonnaise for a Mexican-style twist). In addition to the donuts, they have warm pastries and a wide variety of fudge. If you encounter a long line of traffic upon arrival, don’t worry; they offer quick service, plenty of seating, and several parking lots by the mill to accommodate everyone. We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon, and we barely waited for our food or to find a table. Additionally, they have a small farm, pony rides, and access to the Yates trail, which runs alongside the Clinton River and connects to Bloomer Park to the north. Yates is definitely not your typical cider mill (pun intended) and is an excellent choice for a fantastic summer-to-fall experience. We can’t wait for our next visit!"

"Cute little Brazilian Portuguese store, bakery and café. If you haven't tried Portuguese cuisine, please do give them a visit. If you're not a fan of hot pepper don't worry the dishes do not use spicy heat (you might ask to see if they have peri peri [hot] sauce, but that is African influenced Portuguese, rather than Brazilian). Portuguese cuisine is wonderful European food, fresh seafood, tender steaks, braised in a tasty tomato sauce, among other things. Service was excellent, the staff friendly the owner himself stopped by our table to ask how we liked our entrees. Oh guys~! They were SO good~! Try the fried pork belly appetizer~! Our entrée was a special with seasoned rice, Linguiça sausage, onion, green pepper, tomato, thin, braised tender steak and an egg. It was lunch, but could have been breakfast~! Speaking of THEY DO BREAKFAST GUYS~!! The only thing I can mention to improve would be for them to invest in a larger dining room. The tables are too close together for my comfort (especially the 2 seat ones along the wall we were back to back with the next table."

"Oooo! This place is yummy! I'm not from around here and stumbled on it while visiting the 1984 arcade across the street. Key lime pie was perfection! And I had an herbed tater salad with bacon, so good! Local or from outta town this place was a win in my book. Hope they get lots of love and stay in business <3"
