"Provisions needs to be more consistently good if they are going to charge over $35 for entrees. Short ribs were very good, but Mahi (nage/broth) was totally ruined by being over salted and the broth was flat. At $38 it needs to be better. The Eggplant dip was also rather bland, although the veggies were nice. Understanding that serving bread presents certain challenges for a small restaurant on Maui, they nevertheless need to find a better solution for their bread, especially as they charge for it: The bread often has little character, and one assumes is a bit old to start with as it's somewhat toasted/heated before serving (in an attempt to revive it, I am guessing), but the result is dried out bread. And we wish they would put the salt on the side (not in/on) the butter although many people probably like it. All this being said, we appreciate Provisions apparently sincere efforts to serve good food in Paia, but as prices increase, effort becomes not enough. Their servers being nice and knowledgeable helps."
