"The service and restaurant ambiance are quite pleasant, and it wasn't too crowded at 7 PM, especially at the bar. The beer is served cold. However, the seafood fajitas were just okay; there wasn't much protein for the price, with more vegetables than shrimp, scallops, and calamari—only about three pieces of each. The dish lacked a strong flavor. I'll consider trying other entrees in the future, especially if management takes these reviews into account."

"Let me start by saying this is by far one of my favorite Mexican places to eat, and has been since I was a child. However, I have found hair in my food twice. The first time this happened the manager showed up to basically blame me that there was hair in my food and his staff does not have short hair. Was I shocked yes however I let it slide because it happens. However, while eating tonight I found another hair in my food after taking two bites. I let my waitress know and let her know that it was okay I didn’t need anything else. A couple minutes later the manager comes over with the same comments that he had the last time that it couldn’t possibly be his employees. I was disappointed in this. A simple I’m sorry this happened would have sufficed however it didn’t end that way and it was now our fault that a hair was in our food. I was not upset that this happened up until that point. You don’t ever go into a restaurant expecting something to be wrong but it happens and needs to be handled in the correct way. I am very disappointed in the way this was handled and I hope that this changes."

"The food was wonderful. It was presented nicely and the server was very helpful in my request for the gluten free pasta. It would have been helpful to have a gluten free roll, bread, cracker or even corn chips to go with the goat cheese appetizer we had ordered so I could enjoy it with something other than my spoon, but the experience, knowledgeable staff, and tasty dishes will bring me back another time. I always am looking for gf options on the menus of restaurants since available items to order are usually limited. Thank you for a beautiful evening celebrating my son's birthday."

"My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and planned to enjoy an outdoor activity nearby, so I searched on Trip Advisor for a restaurant with a nice yet casual atmosphere and a diverse menu. Blu Star exceeded our expectations. Every staff member was incredibly friendly, and we ended up dining outside on the sidewalk, enjoying the lovely evening. My husband loved the Blue Cheese Zone burger, and we both found the fries to be unique and delicious. I ordered the Creamy Tuscan Chicken pasta, which I liked, but next time I might opt for a burger and fries since they looked so appetizing. We also shared a generous portion of fried pickles as an appetizer. I'm eager to bring a friend to Blu Star because they have a variety of gluten-free options on the menu. Although Mooresville is about an hour's drive for us, we would definitely return to Blu Star if we're in the area again."

"Wow! I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! Charlie, our server, provided fantastic service. My wife raved about the beef enchiladas, and I thoroughly enjoyed the taco salad—it was incredible! The Tecate beer was spot on, and the frozen margaritas were just right. I even created a Mexican bulldog by combining my beer with a frozen margarita. I can’t stress enough how this is the place to be! As for the other reviews, I think they’re way off. Remember, good things come to those who wait!"

"The chips were deliciously thin and crispy but the food went down from there. The salsa has way too many onions (or too much onion powder) and not enough peppers. The food overall was meh. It was a huge plate and the beans and rice were good but the main courses were meh. We had a beef enchilada and taco lunch platter and the Pork in Verde Sauce. The pork was tender but tasted like it was cooked separately and then doused in peppers. It screamed PORK and then fought with the flavor of the peppers in my mouth. The taco shell tasted stale. The enchilada sauce reminded me of a frozen dinner. We discussed which of the Mexican restaurants in the area that we preferred over Mi Pueblo and the answer ended up being all of them. Service was great. Our server was there when we needed him and gone when we didn 't. The food was served 5 minutes after ordering it. The plates were large and full of food. And not all beans and rice. But it just seemed to miss on the flavors."

"My wife and I were visiting family in the area, and they took us to this restaurant. We both tried the California Burrito; she opted for the smaller size while I went for the larger one, which was just right for me as I'm on the bigger side. We chose the combo with steak, shrimp, and chicken. We also enjoyed a couple of pictures of margaritas with our family, which added to the fun atmosphere. The waitstaff was very attentive, and our food arrived quickly and tasted great. My brother-in-law shared a dessert with us—a cheesecake with ice cream—which was also excellent. When we were seated, we were given chips and salsa; the salsa was tasty, though I would have preferred it a bit spicier, but it was perfect for my wife who isn’t a fan of heat. Overall, I thought it was a good value for the money, and once again, the service was quick and attentive to our needs."

"I came here on a Friday night around 7:30 PM with coworkers. We had a big party of people, they served our food at the same time. They forgot 1 person’s food, which I can see happening cause we had a lot of people. I ordered the Vaca Loca con Bacon Fajita beef, bacon, grilled onions peppers and Ranchero Sauce, topped with Monterrey cheese. Served with rice and choice of beans. It was delicious. I ate it all (took my leftovers home) lol. Bacon is a bit slimey with the food. It seems the bacon was crispy when they cooked it and it turned slimey while mixed. I like that they do keep the restaurant clean. They were wiping tables and sweeping up tortilla chips off the floor. Some restaurants would have just left the chips on the floor until the end of the night. I definitely will be coming back to try out other foods that are on the menu. Food prices are reasonable, not expensive to eat here. Thank you!"

"Let me start off by saying I LOVE this place and come here often with my boyfriend but last night our experience was not the best . Everything started off great, our food was delicious. We ordered oysters, the fajita plate and Macho nachos and we both ate salsa. Once we finished our food my boyfriend broke out in cold sweats and felt very light headed and I started to feel the same way and got very sick and could not keep my food down…and my boyfriend is still not feeling well, I’m not sure if it was the salsa or the food in general but unfortunately we won’t be back for a while."

"I used to live in Kernersville and ate at the Don Juan there. This one is a notch down from Kernersville but still a few notches above the average Mexican restaurant. Today, service was the highlight, food coming in second. It could have had a more polished presentation and more seasoning. Overall it was good, but I was hoping for great. The atmosphere is good and you can have a conversation over lunch without yelling across the table. Prices are good especially for the portion size. I'll come back."

"The server at this restaurant was knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. Our food arrived promptly and was served exactly as we requested. The portions were so generous that we had to take some home with us. The only downside to this place is its location. It's situated on a corner where the front of the building used to be a blockbuster but is now vacant and appears a bit run-down. Despite this, we highly recommend a visit to this restaurant and urge you to give it a try."

"Our group stopped by for a bite after a hike. This place has an old diner feel and luckily we snagged the big booth in the back.I ordered the combo omelette, which came with hash browns and an English muffin. Honestly, breakfast is one of my favorites and this place serves breakfast all day.The omelette wasn’t as fluffy although it had a lot of meat. It didn’t look like the traditional omelette. It was also topped with melted cheese that looked unappealing. Reminded me of Kraft cheese slices, which I am not a big fan of. Taste wise for omelette, it was okay. Someone else in our group who also got an omelette said the same thing. Hash browns could have been crispier. Good portion size though.A couple people in our group ordered the gyro. Pretty big in size. One of them substituted the fries for fried zucchini. I think that’s the way to go.They did have a server come multiple times to refill coffee but not water. My friend asked one server for a to go container but she must have forgotten about it. So, someone from our group went up front to get one."

"Recently went back to Johnny Vs for their AYCE shrimp special.. got the peel and eat shrimp. Ordered it around 7:45pm, so it wasn't close to closing time. Our server brought my wife's meal (she had the tour of Italy special, I believe it's caled- she liked her meal) and my meal around 8pm. Everything's great, salad was good, shrimp is made just right. Server comes back around 20 minutes later.. doesn't offer more shrimp, indicates that she can take our plates away.. Uhh, I paid $18 for my shrimp dinner for a reason- because it was all you can eat. I had to ask for more shrimp, and did get it 45 minutes after we arrived.. That was the first weird moment. The second weird moment was when I was done with my second plate of shrimp.. mind you, these aren't huge plates they use for the refills, so it's not like I ate a ton more shrimp. The server comes to our table and says she can have the bill ready for us whenever we're done. Again, seeing my empty AYCE should tell most servers to offer me more shrimp, right? She didn't. I was kinda upset that she did that to me twice. A person orders AYCE and has an empty plate, as a server you're supposed to offer another plate. I don't know if Johnny Vs was low on shrimp last night or what, but if they were- just TELL ME when I'm ordering that they have limited quantities. Will I be back ton Johnny Vs? Of course. This incident was just worth mentioning if you ever plan on going there for their AYCE specials.. Personally I think it's more than that but I won't speculate on that here."
