"Let me begin by saying that I’ve sampled many items from their menu—it's practically memorized at this point. One of my all-time favorites is the shrimp and crab artichoke dip. I order it every time I bring someone new, and everyone ends up nearly finishing the whole dish. It's salty and cheesy, with delightful chunks of shrimp, served with crispy, tasty crostini. It’s my favorite appetizer by far. The ambiance isn’t anything particularly special—dark wood decor, a spacious bar, and both high and low tables by the fireplace create a cozy atmosphere. There was also a downstairs area for darts or pool, which reminded me of my teenage friends' dimly lit basements where we used to sneak cigarettes. It’s not a dive bar, though; it tends to attract college students and locals. While it can get busy in the evenings, it’s generally manageable, and they also have some outdoor seating. It’s nice to enjoy a drink and a meal outdoors while people-watching. Whitey’s offers a diverse menu that goes beyond typical bar fare. You can find everything from carpaccio to wings on the appetizer menu, along with sandwiches, burritos, pasta, and meatloaf on the regular menu. The shoestring fries are fantastic, and the portions are generous. Prices are reasonable, and I’ve never experienced long wait times. The sandwiches are consistently good, featuring thick, chewy bread, and the burgers are massive and incredibly satisfying! I recommend this place to anyone looking for bar food with a twist. Whether you want to dine solo with a sandwich and some fruit (yes, fruit!) or fries, or come with friends to share some delicious appetizers while admiring the wooden "no smoking" lady perched atop the bar, you’ll have a great time here!"
