"Under new management, Pancho's has a revamped menu featuring new recipes, but at a higher price point. Unfortunately, while the inconsistent service from before has been replaced, so has the consistently excellent food. This establishment used to be my favorite spot for Mexican cuisine, possibly in all of California. For $16.40, I ordered a plate of two enchiladas accompanied by rice and beans, with flour tortillas on the side (this price included a 3.25% fee for using a credit card). Although the chips and salsa remain complimentary, the chips were stale during my visit, and the salsa was served in tiny ramekins. I also noticed that iced tea was still unavailable. I will miss the unique charm, the rich family recipes, and the option to order lunch-sized portions. While the new Pancho's staff is friendly and the food is adequately prepared, it simply doesn't measure up to the quality of the beloved family-run original. Instead, this new incarnation feels like just another overpriced, generic Mexican restaurant, blending into an already crowded dining scene."
