"Starting with the cleanliness: as soon as you walk in, you're greeted by an odor that can only be described as a mix of stale grease and mildew. They would benefit from closing for a day to drain everything, scrub down every corner of the restaurant, and clean all the appliances to restore it to a basic level of cleanliness. As for the aesthetic: the exterior looks like it hasn’t changed in 30 years, while the interior is a gloomy blend of browns. They do have some charming coffee-themed artwork on the walls that could be integrated into a more modern design, but overall, a significant redesign is needed. Regarding the menu: there’s a common belief that restaurants with over 100 menu items often don’t excel at any of them, while those with fewer than 20 tend to shine. My chilaquiles verdes with chorizo were overly simplistic. Instead of the base of tortilla chips providing a satisfying crunch, they were soggy from the excess juices of the chorizo and salsa verde, leading to a homogenous texture and flavor that was... lackluster. My wife’s avocado benedict suffered the same fate of being bland and one-dimensional. Instead of the anticipated crispy yet chewy English muffin complemented by a tangy hollandaise, everything blended into a singular, unremarkable taste. On a positive note, the servers were courteous and attentive, which was the only highlight of our visit. Overall, it seems Garden Berry Cafe has a long way to go to enhance the dining experience."

"A quick Google search for LuMar won't give you much information about this charming eatery located in Old Town Monrovia. To understand the story behind its name, you'll need to speak with the owner, Dragica Grabovac, who named the restaurant after her two children, Lucia and Mario. They were teenagers when Cafe LuMar opened its doors in early 2012, and now, as the restaurant embarks on its ninth year, it embodies the spirit of a beloved neighborhood spot. While you might think that most of the menu isn't Croatian, that would overlook the rich influences that shape Croatian cuisine, which borrows flavors from various parts of Europe. One dish that proudly represents Croatian traditions is sarma, a delicious stuffed cabbage dish that's popular throughout the Balkans. At Cafe LuMar, the cabbage leaves are expertly prepared and filled with a savory mixture of ground beef, pork, and rice, all smothered in a delightful sauce. Another Balkan favorite you won't want to miss is ćevapi. These skinless sausages are always juicy and are given just the right amount of char from the grill to enhance their robust flavor. For a complete experience, tear off a piece of warm pita, wrap it around a sausage, and dip it in the rich red pepper ajvar. During our visit, our friendly server playfully noted, "You are not Croatian!" when they noticed that most of the raw onions remained on my plate. Apparently, this was a clear indication, as any self-respecting Croatian would have been asking for more."

"I?ve been coming to Deemer?s for years now and I?m finally fed up. Recently they?ve obviously shifted ownership or gained new management. The menu now includes breakfast in the mornings, and that?s great. Given that I loved Deemer?s years back, I thoughtit?d be a good move. Unfortunately, the food is starting to lack quality and the service is clearly sub-par and amateur. Theworst thing a restaurant can do is provide an inconsistent experience and that?s what I always get: a non-melted Tuna Melt, abad pour of beer with 2 inches of head (happened on 4 separate occasions), a wait time beyond what?s reasonable (such as myfriend getting his meal 15 minutes before mine arrives, even though I ordered 5 minutes before him), and even garlic fries withParmesan, except they?ve forgotten the Parmesan on 3 total visits now. On top of all that, my office recently ordered from therestaurant and nearly half of the order was completely incorrect (many salads were missing their core ingredients; an obviousscrew-up that their team was incapable of catching, I guess). The online ordering system was rushed and they put little effortinto it. When my coworker and I attempted to fix it, the manager admitted they knew of the errors and would refund fractions ofour order in due time. From what I understand, that has yet to happen. I don?t know what this place is doing but they?re doingit wrong. It is disheartening when I have to leave bad reviews for restaurants because I enjoy letting others know of howamazing it was. In this case, Deemer?s American Grill is becoming a major disappointment. The only consistency I receive fromcoming here often is consistent failure."
