"such a terrible experience. our reservation was for 6 people at 3:00 a.m. on vatertag, as I drove there at 2:30, I got a phone call that says there was a mistake and that they did not make any reservations, I said that I received both a text and an email, and I have people who meet me at 3:00 a.m. there, they said sadly, we tried to vater and get the open table for the block. I then asked well how long this is waiting for 6 people, she said 20 30 minutes. I went there, came at 2:40 to enter my name, as my reservation was canceled and the place is empty. there was no waiting time at all. so frustrating. the food was very subpar, asked for my meat to cook well, it came rarely, had to send it back. He was very fat. I asked for brown rice, white rice got no good experience and I won't be back."

"Sushi wasn 't as fresh as it usually is. Eaten there many times and there is something always off about the quality of food. Tonight I ordered miso cod and almost choked on three very lengthy bones. I told the food runner and he went back to the kitchen and then apologized that the bones should have been removed. The second one they brought out was soooo overlooked which is very difficult to do with black cod butterfish which is a very forgiving fish to prepare and cook. My 5 year old could knock it out of the park. Such a disappointment we have given this place several attempts which I think they are beginning to run out of excuses for such poor quality and no attention to detail. Staff doesn 't seem to care."

"I have gone to 3 different Kabuki locations and this one on Colorado in Pasadena is by far the worse. I was very embarrassed that I was boasting about the food at Kabuki’s because the other locations were great. This one had terrible service. I have gone here about 3X over the past 10 years (mostly convenience) and each time was a bad experience. I will most definitely never come back and o do not recommend it to anyone. I figured over time it will have been better, nope. It was worse.The last experience was negative due to the waitress in a rush to clock out and receive her tip and payment. Our order barely came in and she was leaving and insisted on us checking out. So, we were not able to get any service after that. We couldn’t get refills on drink. What’s worse is that the place was empty. There was a couple out on the patio and a small family that came in as we finished our dinner."

"After arriving late at our hotel due to heavy traffic. I attempted to contact the restaurant to advise them I would be a few minutes late. HORRIBLE... the phone number listed on their website is wrong, no way to contact them through their web site. Hotel concierge provided a different phone number. Which did not work either. I did over 20 min. Of research for the restaurant's number) Could not change the time for the reservation online. And, the Kabuki website doesn't even have a listing or location for the restaurant I had reservations at. It was a complete nightmare."

"went to dinner on a Sunday night with a 7pm reservation. started off not so good. when I called to say we were going to be a little bit tardy, they couldn't find my reservation. they found my confirmation by the end of our call. we ended up being only 4 minutes late instead of the 10 minutes I estimated in my call. when we arrived there were at least a dozen tables available and no one waiting. so I'm not sure why they were so concerned about me even having a reservation. service was slow and unattentive, but improved slightly about 3/4 of the way into our dinner when more runners/assistants seemed to appear from nowhere. but it was too late. first impression had already been made, service-wise. food was pretty good. not the best sushi we've ever had, but good. restaurant was clean. atmosphere was very bright and sterile. not recommended for a romantic evening. probably best as a meal before/after shopping since it is in the galleria mall."

"So I went down to California to visit a bestie of mine. The last time we got together we were sad that we couldnt grab sushi. So I had made that suggestion to her and she was on board! Originally this wasnt going to be our first choice.. but our first choice was closing by the time she got off work and boy she was borderline hangry. Lol So she recommended this place to me and I'm glad we made the choice! The restaurant was quite big despite how small it looked like on the outside. Its NOT all you can eat but the quality is amazing. The ambiance of the restaurant makes it feel like a good place for a date. The food itself was fantastic! We ordered some salmon nigiri, an appetizer (I forgot which) and a roll each. The nigiri was fresh and the portion for the fish was generous! Despite ordering just a couple of items it filled us up nicely, while leaving room for us to get some boba around the area! Luckily, we came at the perfect time because shortly after we ordered there was several groups of people that came in afterwards! Be one of the great minds that think alike and come here!"

"Great front patio area for outdoor dining w dog. Appropriately radiant heaters facing downward--just enough to provide heat without burning your hair. I had the soy ramen w grilled pork and boiled egg. Flavor was very good. I would probably not use the black pepper since it tends to settle at the bottom of the Bowl after slurping down the noodles. The pork was a bit too lean for my tastes--for ramen, I personally prefer the less healthy, more fatty pork belly, but that's just a personal thing. The service is actually very noteworthy. Extremely attentive hostess, waitress. Even though we were the only people outside, we never felt neglected. Okay, they were extremely courteous--a real plus!"

"We haven't been to Kabuki in ages, and it was our first time at this location. Not sure if their menu has changed because of the pandemic, but they seemed to have removed some items (no mackerel sushi and no more sushi boats). They did have a new menu adding more choices to their considerably extensive offerings. Great deal with the Family Table, which can feed 4 adults (per our server) with chicken beef teriyaki, bbq pork ribs, gyoza, tempura, California roll, and rice for only $35. Food is very flavorful, and their veggies and sushi are made with fresh ingredients. Enjoyed the daikon in their wonderful side salads, and the Albacore Crunch Roll was a good call, with savory ponzu sauce and crunchy garlic embellishing their freshly made albacore roll. Great place for large groups and families. Available indoor and outdoor seating. Very much recommended for reasonably priced, quality Japanese food. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well."

"This review is regarding my visit (07/20/18) at 7pm. The hostess was extremely friendly and sat us down promptly. Immediately after taking our seats, my party and I felt very warm. Apparently we weren't the only ones because several people from the tables in our section were fanning themselves with their menus. Our hostess told us there was a slight issue with the AC and that they were working on it. No big deal. Or so I thought. It just seemed to get warmer and warmer. We placed a pretty large order with a strategy. First the three apps, then the first round of sushi (four rolls), then the second round of sushi after that (another three rolls). Our server was amazing and he placed the order exactly the way we asked. Super attentive and friendly. Well, it was a good thought while it lasted because everything wound up coming to our very small table at the exact same time. Still, we're a creative bunch and we made it work. No big deal. Now, here's where I really took issue. The fish on the rainbow roll I ordered wasn't cold. That really bothered me because I'm super picky about sushi and I kinda have this thing where I like raw fish to be cold. Then I tried the barbecue beef ribs. They were so bland. I then tried the dragon roll and was severely disappointed. The unagi tasted like butane and I couldn't continue eating it. The Alaskan roll was assembled lazily and it was literally falling apart when it came to my table. We had to use a spoon to pick up and piece because it couldn't hold its shape! Now, I can forgive a lot of things but I have a big problem when the food I'm paying for isn't up to par. On every other occasion I've been to this location, the food was amazing. Tonight was just a fluke, I suppose. I'm not the only one in my party who thought so. It was super warm in their and the food was such a disappointment that we all decided to leave. TL;DR Restaurant was warm, raw fish not cold, food didn't taste the same, so we left for another restaurant."

"Excellent as usual. Around 4.3 Stars. YES, we would go back. LONGER VERSION: We have been to Kabuki 6+ times now, and always enjoy going back. It is a great alternative to the other restaurants in Town Square for lunch or dinner. SERVICE: We were one of the first ones there for lunch, so service was quick. Matthew our server was Excellent. Right there when you needed him and friendly to boot. Nice job. FOOD: For 3 of us, we grazed , with a house salad, chicken fingers appetizer, grilled shrimp roll, dragon roll and BBQ beef roll. All very good to excellent. The sauce on the BBQ beef roll was addicting nice touch chefs! A very nice meal for 3 for under $75 with tips. OVERALL: Very good value and a very good to excellent place. This might not be Nobu in Caesars, but you are not paying double either. I would come back to Kabuki anytime."

"Our 3rd and last visit here. Service; What service ?? No bartender during the day time. An Employee that was just there to collect her check had to make us our drinks and as you can imagine they were awful and had to be sent back !! Then we were told the managers would make our drinks. But they never came out of the back office ... REALLY??!! They 're Short staffed to the point that even the waiter complained about the situation to us ??!! Where do I start ??!! Poor food quality; Restaurant and bathrooms filthy. 3 Industrial strength 1 gallon cleaner bottles on floor in plain site in bar area. Dirty bar counter top with left over food and chop sticks. No wasabi or ginger put on our plates. We actually had ask for this ??!! Even the hosts wasn 't friendly. What a shame in this day and age of THOUSANDS of restaurants in which to choose from. What an incredible waste of time and money. Great example of Corporate Greed Stupidity !! We are patrons not the black side of your corporate ledger ..."

"Best hibachi. Tokyo is THE best hibachi restaurant I've eaten at thus far, and I've been around the block when it comes to hibachi. I'm from NJ, so when traveling I don't expect to find the same caliber of food as I would find in the NJ/Philly/NYC area, especially being a jack ass. Don't be offended, I'm just being honest and it's what I've come to experience in my travels the more modern/progressive cities have more to offer in terms of cuisine. So, anyway, I was staying with friends in Daphne and wanted nothing more than to get back into a CITY and have something good to eat. We ended up finding a Japanese restaurant not too far from down town FairHope. We opted for Sushi as opposed to Hibachi but they have both here.. The quality of the sushi was very good and the service was stellar. While we were there it was Happy Hour so many SUSHI items were BUY ONE GET ONE FREE.(but the prices were already low to begin with) so my spicy tuna roll was very good, and the FairHope roll was even better. And it was good. Really good. So good that it put the crappy sushi I had from Pan Asia at my home town to shame. Unlike the last visit, a young fellow could not understand much in English. This time our chef was Alex. I am not sure when he told us he was Italian. Same as i? What a great joke. I ordered the Filet Mignon and shrimp, The temperature was just about right , Firmly cooked and still juicy. The fired rice was golden brown and the Veges was tender but crispy. Few other places i go come with noddles. He also called them Pass ta plate like Marco Polo travels to China. Now I am wonder if he is really Italian. We had a great meal, sure will come back to give Alex more visits"

"We hadn't been here in a couple of years, but the recent visit was disappointing. They seat way more people than they have servers, which is unfair to the customers and the servers. However, even at a basic level, a server should be able to look at your table once in a while to see if you need anything. We sat for twenty-five minutes, with empty drinks and empty food plates. We were going to order more rolls before that happened, but by then, we were done with the place, asked for the check, and left. Won't go again."
