"I stopped by Underhills on a Saturday afternoon. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar. After a cocktail, and my favorite Lobster Bisque, Adam leaned over and suggested the one of the specials...the Cavatelli Pasta; a dish with a brilliant, light silantro based tomato sauce, homemade lamb sausage, topped with mozzarella. Wow! I learned how a marriage of tastes can make eating a meal fun and educational experience. What was so educational about it? For those of us who have eaten lamb, we know that lamb can have...well...a lamb taste. Sure, there are ways to mute the taste, but what if you embraced it? That 's what this dish did. The character of the lamb was intact but blended with the tastes of tomato sauce, silantro, and mozzarella. Each bite was an novel experience. Put very plainly, it was great! If you 're in Bronxville, or you don 't mind a journey, Underhills is a wonderful place to stop in for a great meal and a wonderful experience."

"Anniversary dinner with our two children, 8 and 10. We decided to sit out on the porch on a fairly humid June evening and the ceiling fans made for a nice breeze. We find most restaurants to be overly air-conditioned, but Metro 8 didn't seem like a fridge even when we walked in - that's a huge plus for me! Our waitress was very nice and attentive without interfering. She noted that it was nice to see kids with books (and math in our conversation) instead of iPads. The steaks my husband and I ordered were as advertised and delicious. So were the pages. Our girls loved their grilled chicken. Cocktails were good and just the right strength. Highly recommended."

"Dinner there with 3 friends last night was really disappointing. First off masks are required of customers but apparently not staff. The bartender, who served the bottle of wine we ordered, was not masked the entire evening. The rest of the wait staff did wear masks. We had the salmon with vegetables and both the salmon and the vegetables (which were mostly beans) were way under cooked. The beans were actually hard and inedible. There were 3 choices for dessert a crème brûlée, a deconstructed chocolate cheesecake and an apple cranberry pie. All 3 were unimpressive and when asked if the apple pie could be served ala mode we were told that there is no ice cream or whipped cream for that matter. We did convince our wait person to have the kitchen whip some heavy cream and make whipped cream for us. The desserts were all served cold. This may be fine for the cheesecake but the apple pie and crème brûlée should have been served warm. The atmosphere is a little too sterile. Lighting could have been lower. There is a doorway into another room next to the bar. Overhead lights in that room were on fully and this was really distracting since we were sitting facing that room and the light from in there shined right into the dining room. Also have to mention that the unisex restroom was filthy. So disgusting decided to wait. Really wanted to like this place and, having worked in food service for many years, I think there is potential. It's just not there yet."

"We went to White Birch before our reservation to check out their social hour. We ordered a few apps and were blown away by every component of the duck confit sliders. We were tempted to order another round of sliders but did not want to spoil our dinner. The “Fig You” cocktail was amazing, lightly sweet and full of flavor... perfectly refreshing. We sat for dinner and we greeted by our server who went over the menu with us (it’s a new menu from the last time we came for dinner). She answered every question we had! We ordered a few appetizers and entrees to share and everything was outstanding. We are typically not venison eaters but you should not miss the sliders or the Wellington, both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The sliders had a nice touch of goat cheese for a great balance of flavor. The Wellington was wrapped in puff pastry and was so tender- it got better and better with each bite. Our server told us the banana cream pie was a newer dessert menu item so we went for it and we devoured everything on the plate! It was the perfect finisher to an already wonderful experience. We signed up for the wine dinner while we were there and cannot wait to see what Chef Sam creates for us!"
