"My fiancé and I were traveling through and stopped in Roanoke for the night. Our front desk clerk suggested this place for dinner and we were very excited for some seafood in a casual setting (as we were not trying to spend two hours on a formal dinner). I know this place is called awful Arthur’s but we did not expect such an experience. We got seated and submitted our order at 9:16. Bar was a bit busy so drinks took about 20 minutes, which is not crazy. About 45 minutes in, we received our appetizer of 6 shrimp. About an hour and a half later we received our entrees. Our waitress who was running around and doing the best she could explained they only had one cook as the other walked out. She was great and very apologetic and advised she would check if they could offer any discount. We did not inquire about one but were appreciative. She came back to let us know that Dan, the off duty manager that was drinking at the bar, refused to offer anything. I am a manager in hospitality and completely understand when things happen out of your control. Instead of sending the message along, it would’ve been professional to offer an apology instead of hanging your employee out to dry. In addition, maybe assisting your cook instead of downing beers and watching your team members flail. Never coming back here again and suggesting our hotel to maybe not recommend them. To the sweet waitress who tried her best, thank you and I hope they know your worth!"

"I’ve always wanted to try this place and each time I’m in Randolph, I forget about it. We happen to be at Lombardo‘s for an event, my dad nigh, and we wanted to have lunch after. I always forget about Fred’s seafood… Not today! This is located 3 miles down from Lombardo‘s so we popped in because my dad absolutely loves seafood. I will tell you that this place is very small and it is very nondescript. Very plain tables and chairs and could definitely use a makeover since they’ve been in business since 1968. But honestly, that was the charm of this place. I would not change a thing. I asked the man behind the counter if he was Fred and he told me no, his name was Billy and he was Fred’s son. He told me His parents opened the place in 1968. I was in the mood for scallops and my dad ended up getting a clam strip plate. There was a soda machine there that cost $1.00 per can so we each got a soda to go with Our meals. Billy brought our meals out and place them on the table in my eyes probably went wide as saucers LOL we started to eat our meals and we both looked each other as if to say, “we will definitely be back again and again for seafood!“ My dad and I shared each other’s meals so I did get to taste the clams and everything was just perfect. The scallops were big, plentiful and cooked perfectly. The french fries were hot, crispy and fresh. There was so much, that I had to take some of it home There is no bad or ugly with this place. A simple small restaurant in a strip of stores (on street parking) with a few tables to eat at, nondescript decor, and seafood at its best in Randolph, Massachusetts. Total cost was $26 which was well worth the money to me."
