"Summary Please don't. Run and save your money. You will be lighter in your pocket and loaded with bad experience from the food and service. If you want Indian buffet in NW suburbs, go to India House/Bombay Chopsticks which has restarted their buffet though it's lighter in comparison to a that pre covid. Background: If you are scanning for reviews for Trilokah before visiting, let me save you the time and and sincerely ask you not to. This coming from an Indian who has accompanied her husband across 20+ states in the US and has had Indian food from restaurants across all price categories. We are from Chicago suburbs and Covid put a cold blanket to our weekly visit to various Indian buffet joints which shut down promptly. Over the last few quarters some started opening and we started visiting some old joints and new and Trilokah was something that came across through yelp. Reviews sounded too genuine and we also made a few calls to enquire about lunch/dinner we were promised a sumptuous buffet which would warm us to kerala/authentic south Indian veg and non veg food. We were pretty much looking forward to this we have visited over 50+ Indian restaurants across the US and some really good ones in and around Jersey/NY and Bay Area and pretty much formed an idea of what to expect. We were especially told the Sunday buffet was better than the Saturday one and made plans accordingly. Experience: 0/5 Pretty small joint with 4 5 small tables next to the buffet and a slightly larger room with some more tables. Since we were a party of 2, we were asked to pick any table next the buffet. Tables had cheap paper placemats which looked bad for a buffet costing close to 23. Dinnerware consisted of foam plates, cups and plastic disposable spoons Seriously I have had foam plates in only 2 other Indian restaurants over the last decade in the US. And not once in the 30 mins we spent there, anyone from the restaurant checked with us for anything else that we needed or had any questions about the food etc. The same treatment was probably handed out to the others since the two other parties that visited during that time had none from the restaurant check up with them once they got seated. Food: 1.5/5 I am only rating 1.5 because we did not get sick after having the food and the gobi manchurian and sambar were decent. The buffet had 2 kinds of rice, veg fried rice, chicken biriyani, chicken 65, Gobi Manchuria, fish in kerala curry, beef curry, butter chicken, idli, 2 veg items, 1 panner curry, medu vada, tandoori roti, pappadams. For deserts I remember payasayam and one other item which I did not even bother checking. The food items typically a Desi will classify as South Indian like the kerala fish curry, beef curry etc was completely tasteless and devoid of flavor. The biriyani was neither like north Indian biriyani, Hyderabad or kerala biriyani and the less I say about the butter chicken or paneer the better the lack of flavor competed with the lack of any morsels bigger than 0.25 inch. And the chicken 65 had hardened up that I was almost close knocking my crown off we visit at around 1 pm and it was about 60 minutes since the buffet started and this spoke volumes about the freshness of the food. Bill Payment: They don't tell you that they will charge you extra for non cash payments. So for 2 buffets which we paid with cc, a surcharge of 1.76 was promptly levied without informing us prior. Total came over 50 usd which would have gone a long way for a decent meal at a decent restaurant in the sw suburbs. For the buffet on a average day that should not cost more that 23 (9.99 x3 plus tax) (trust me I have had buffets from California to Florida to NJ and many of the states in between), we were lighter in our pockets and underwhelmed with the overall experience at Trilokah, which initially promised a lot. Overall: 0.5/5 Overall both my husband and I hit upon an idea last year to hit up all the worst ranked restaurants across Chicago and its suburbs. We chickened out eventually but Trilokah would be un the top 10 for"
