"We met my mom at 6 PM for our reservation on a Friday evening. We were seated quickly, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. It was clear the restaurant was short-staffed, with only three young women managing the tables, handling takeout orders, and possibly preparing food. Each of them seemed responsible for at least 8-10 tables. After being seated, we ordered drinks about ten minutes later along with our entrees. By 6:20 PM, I had ordered iced tea, but it arrived without any garnishes or sweeteners—no lemon, no sweetener, and no straw. When I asked for sugar, the server just tossed four packets of Splenda on the table in front of my mom. When I requested regular sugar instead of the artificial sweeteners, she simply replied, “No sugar.” That was the end of that. We ordered three dinners: drunken noodles with chicken and two sesame chickens with white rice. Then began the waiting game, during which we could only hear our growling stomachs. I even had time to step next door to the smoke shop to buy some Mega Millions tickets and returned ten minutes later to find that our food still hadn’t arrived. Finally, the sesame chicken dinners came at 7:10 PM, with the drunken noodles arriving about five minutes later. However, both sesame chicken dishes were at room temperature, and the rice bowls were cold and stuck together in clumps. I’ve never seen Samui Thai fully packed, but it was evident that takeout orders were prioritized over seated customers. I noticed a couple who left after 15 minutes of being ignored by the waitstaff. At the very least, they could have taken drink orders. None of the usual staff was working that night, leading us to believe they might have had the evening off or that the restaurant is under new management. Regardless, we’ll be hesitant to return in October if the original team isn’t back. Thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far!"
