"I've been here a couple of times but this time it was a little disappointing. The braesola starter which I love really saved up on the mushrooms. And they were plain old mushrooms, not the fabulous wild mushrooms they had in the past. I was amazed. The pasta specifically was salty and dry. The fried calamari and prawns were very salty too. The quality of the food that goes into the meals is really top notch. In their defense, we went there right after the holiday weekend and maybe it was a little different. It won't stop us from coming back in the hope that it was an anomaly rather than the norm."

"Wonderful spicy food! Two of us went for Restaurant week, both ordered medium hot entrees. Her goat curry was just the right spiciness, and she enjoyed it tremendously. My chicken dish was just bit too spicy, but on request we were given a delicious raita which helped tremendously. The samosas and pakoras were good, as was the tamarind sauce/chutney, but the coriander chutney was watery and didn't have much flavor. The chai was delicious. We had the mango pudding and rice pudding for dessert. The mango pudding was very good, not too sweet. The rice pudding was not like the kheer I expected it had cinnamon and dark raisins in it and was extremely sweet. It was quite pleasant, though. Servings were generous both my friend and I have gotten at least two additional meals from our entrees!"

"In a word, we had a great first experience. Bea our waitress/owner was delightful. My wife and I travel for work and know our Thai food. Surin is among the top 4 in our travels from CA, to New Englang and many points in between. If you have never experienced Thai, you must. So many different flavors! Don't ever worry about a dish being too spicy. Most places have a simple 1 through 5 chilies. 5 being hottest. Ask Bea and she will make it right. We loved both of our dishes which had generous amounts of seafood in one, and duck in the other. Also, you have to try the chicken Satay. It is a marinated skewer of chicken with a peanut dipping sauce that perhaps was the best we have ever had. Surin also has a good beer and wine selection."

"My wife and I wanted a nice laid-back place to sit outside and enjoy a fun dinner. We ended up being very disappointed by the service. Our server took about 10-15 minutes to get to the table (which feels like an eternity when you are waiting to order beverages). They took our drink order and quickly returned with a cocktail and waters but the beer we ordered was delayed by a few minutes. Not a big deal, but then the night went south. We didn't see our server again for a very long time. We started to feel like our appetizer was a little delayed when food runners showed up with our entrees. No app in sight. We let them know and eventually the server brought our app. But we were halfway into the meal by that point. The food tasted fine. Nothing extraordinary but not bad. The nachos, I admit, were delicious. The mac and cheese we ordered was described to have bread crumbs but was missing that. Fortunately the server had it taken care of pretty quickly. We were never asked about having our drinks refilled. And after eating, we waited a long time for our check. It just seemed to take forever for everything. None of the problems by themselves would have been a big deal, but together it added up to a somewhat unpleasant experience. The server was nice and apologetic. They also comped us the appetizer which was nice. May have been an off night or maybe a new server, but I can't say I would recommend going on a Saturday night. Also, we did enjoy the outdoor seating area. It was a little tight, but the ambiance was nice."

"Delicious! We had samosa, tandoori platter appetizer, butter chicken and veg korma with naan. What an excellent feast. We have leftovers for days. I was not raised in the midwest so next time I will ask for hot instead of medium spice. Vegetarian options: There is so much to try. Korma’s my favorite and they did it proud. The flavor is complex and rich. The samosa was seasoned differently than I had tasted before. It was lovely. Food: 5"

"This restaurant has a lovely interior, and the food is absolutely fantastic—the cauliflower is especially addictive! The service was quick, and the staff were very accommodating when we needed to get our food to go because our son was too excited about going to Vampire Penguin. Everything was enjoyable overall, but I can't give a perfect score because our waiter made a comment about my son’s excitement, saying that’s why he’s waiting to have children. He went on to mention how we don't get to relax, sleep, or have date nights. While it’s true, it felt quite rude and made me very uncomfortable during our visit."

"Really really awesome! I'd highly recommend this place. If you love Indian food or even flavors you need to try this place! We got here with our daughter and her husband and found out one of my husband's old friends owns this place! What? Ok here is my tip for you.... do not under any circumstance try to make a regular ol pizza. It will not work. That's not what this place is. Just trust the process and pick one and go with it. Also, they have vegan options which is huge. AND..... the cauliflower pizza crust is truly amazing. You cannot tell a difference from the Naan. (The Naan and vegan Naan are also amazing! My son in law got the butter chicken and said it was amazing. My daughter got the mango korma pizza and also said it was really good. We got the the cheese Naan and garlic Naan which were amazing! The garlic Naan was delicious. I'd eat just that. My husband got the mango korma as well vegan style which was seriously amazing! They have a fake chicken, ficken (that's what we call it and it is a good sub. The flavor is so good. I did the lame thing and made a regular pizza and it was not nearly as good. I did a build your own with marinara, spinach, green peppers, pineapple, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. Not great. It was fine but trust me when I say.... get a specialty curry pizza! They will actually let you sub something, they are all so nice there! And then! Bhinda made us his pizza. Ok. If you like heat, this is the pizza for you. The flavors are so complex but you can taste them all, the spice doesn't hit you right away and then BAM! There it is. If you need help getting through this just order a Lassi it will help with the heat. Both flavors are great! Good luck if you get the Bhinda pizza and enjoy!"

"We started with the vegetable samosas, which I really appreciated for their lighter dough compared to the usual ones. Next, we tried the garlic naan, and it was incredibly garlic-infused and absolutely delicious, with a rich buttery taste! For our main courses, we shared two dishes. The first was Chicken Tikka Masala, which came with mozzarella, bell peppers, tomatoes, green onions, jalapeños, cilantro, and house seasoning all in a tikka masala curry. I have to say, I had something similar in Kansas City, but this experience was far superior to what I had a decade ago. The crust on the dish was so light and thin—perfection! We also ordered the Biryani Paneer, which was fantastic! I truly wish this restaurant was in Chicago. I hope they expand!"

"The food was wonderful. However, the staff seemed perplexed by someone actually having used Open Table for a reservation. It took a while to get that straightened out. Also, although the restaurant was basically empty with a lot of larger tables set for parties of 4, it would not accommodate our request (we were a party of 2) for one of the larger tables. A larger table would have come in handy given the number of plates and glasses employed in our dinner."

"Star of India is hands down my favorite place for Indian food. I’ve never had a bad experience here, and the food is amazing every single time. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home whether you’re eating in or picking up takeout. The restaurant itself is really nice too, so dining in is always a good time. If you’re grabbing takeout, their website makes it easy to order, and I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes when picking up. As for the food, it’s the best!! I used to make chicken tikka masala at home, but after trying theirs, I stopped (why bother when they do it ten times better? Some of my other favorites are the chicken balti, lamb biryani, eggplant pakora, and paratha. Everything is packed with flavor, and you can tell they really know what they’re doing in the kitchen. If you haven’t tried Star of India yet, you’re missing out. It’s a must-try for sure!"

"this was a great restaurant with a wonderful buffet. my visit today was deceived me deeply. each product on the buffet, except for hawn tikka masala and palak wiper was irrigated to the consistency of the suppe. the rice was dry and there were only a few pieces naan, so I took a pfirsich to save some for the other guests. the food tasted as it looked. watered. here is the thing for a Saturday, rival game day in that the restaurant should have been packed. last year to this time it was. eating was much better and so was the service. I think they've run their customers. I will not come back in definitiw. if they can't keep customers and they need to drain the food to keep it before burning on buffet. turn off the buffet. simple and simple. I should have trusted my instinct and went out when I noticed that the restaurant was empty. also there is no sanitation rating visible. I looked. I hope you can turn everything around. they had a great restaurant at one point."

"I came here with my husband and my parents at the lab-day weekend. I guess we were ready for the service to be slow. But the restaurant wasn't busy, maybe only a few tables were occupied. But there was only one person waiting for all tables, so it took a while before she even came with water after she showed us our table. It was a while before she was back to take our orders, and I think she just stopped because one of us drew her attention after we were tired of waiting. The food portions were super small. The individual parts and the Entrees, which should be larger for exchange, were small. I honestly did not see many places with so small portions at the price in other Indian restaurants. The Rotis in sharp contrast were super big, but they felt more like dried Pita bread than North Indian Rotis. The Chana masala had two large pieces of tomatoes, unusual for preparation, the tomato sauce in the engraving, but not whole pieces of tomatoes. We appreciate the fact that the place was open in the late hour that we were there and the lady who waited all the tables was nice to speak but had to do too much. Definitely will not go back."
